Ending Season > Going Bowling

Why would we want to practice Gattis's offense?
Ideal situation would be:

-beat Pitt to become bowl eligible
-announce UM and Gattis are parting ways on Nov. 27th.
-appoint Ponce interim OC and let him run the practices using the same offense he ran at App State
-announce the new ELITE OC hire WELL BEFORE early signing day (12-22)

I posted in the Culture Is Not A Buzzword thread, but on another site, a tweet was posted that Manny Navarro’s podcast stated Manny received a text from a player’s parent stating several players don’t want to beat Pitt so they don’t have to go to a bowl game.
Sad!

I'd take those extra practices any day.

These kids need coaching. Even if the coaching this year has been questionable

Fixed it for you.

You cant change the culture by picking and choosing when you want to win. You play to win EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU STEP ON THE FIELD, and anybody (coach, players or even FANS) that dont have that mentality, you dont WANT them to be part of the program. Now, fans and the like you don’t have control over but hopefully the culture eventually grows on them as well. The culture amongst the fans for the Service Academies are a great example of this. Navy, Army, Air Force, it doesn't matter what kind of season, the fans and players approach each contest with a will and desire for victory.

WTF.
That is crazy.
We’ll never be successful with players that don’t want to play. Preparing for football is hard work (workouts, practices, film study) but playing games should be fun.

Extra practices are important for whoever is left on this team for next year. Whoever allegedly is saying they wanna lose to not go bowling can keep their *** at whatever gas station they take their best selfies at.

The only thing that would even give me a slight pause for bowl eligibility is if it means getting gattis and whoever else needs to go is put on hold until that's done. But even then....I dont wanna see a **** 5-7 record. Gross.

I can believe that also I believe Mario shifted his focus toward the future way before the FSU disaster.

Good point 🎯 , he saw what he had in the first 10 minutes of first practice and was hoping if he could squeeze that ATM game out then momentum into FSU .
I’m sure he felt, well we’ll see who has toughness and perseverance the rest can leave a form of a purge for new breed coming in.

But yes Mario was very limited to really do anything at all not much to work with.

GOCANES

With the reports that we are going to see a massive turnover in the roster (24 to 30 kids) transferring out there is really no benefit to getting to the 6th win and going to a bowl game for the extra practices. We know that adjustments will be made to staff. We know that there will be a tremendous youth movement in Year 2 with players that are not on campus yet.

Mario should just focus all efforts on recruiting/transfer portal and securing a top 5 class and not trying to extend the lost season of Year 1 with players/coaches that will not be here.

If it is true that there are players who can't get up for the final game of the season because they don't want to play in a bowl game, well that goes a long way in explaining the whole season.

I’ve said it a while ago in another thread that the players look like they r going through the motions. There’s a few guys on defense that r playing hard & giving their all. Here’s a 3 star TRUE FRESHMAN OLman by the name Anez Cooper who immediately became our best OLman. How does that happen?

This squad needs to a total reset, just like FSU had to do.

This isn’t a lost season or a failed season.. it’s year 1 of a rebuild under a real HC. If we beat Pitt to become bowl eligible we need to play the bowl game.
It’s a failed season anytime you get blown out at home to Duke, FSU, and Middle Tennessee State but keep up the crazy posts.

You guys would rather be 5-7 than potentially have a winning season? While FSU/UF go bowling?

You don’t think that might come back to bite us?
My TV told me all year long that Mario knows what it takes to win here. Why does he have to prove it by actually winning and becoming bowl eligible? Pffft. Silly Miami fans.
