Encouraging Mensah / OL Stats

Most seem more worried about the bluechip laden dline than oline but agreed the oline is key to team.. We are depending on ALOT of guys to step wayyy up and play at a high level we are used to.. We lost more NFL guys on oline than dline and portal a potential NFL guy to help reinforce on dline.. Oline, we counting on guys playing way above their head..

All I keep thinking is Cam Ward. Ward's OL sucked at Wazzu and when he had a clean pocket at Miami he could sit there for days. Man I really wish Bell got another year and stayed. A line of him, Samson, McCoy and Cantwell...only question mark is C.

Feels like we are betting on Mario and Mirabal having that room developed and ready to go 8/9 deep

I really think this line is going to be a lot like the 2023 OL. Outside of the 2022 OL Alex Mirabal, has produced a top 15 OL every season since 2018, his first season at Oregon.

I'd be ok with that. 16 sacks given up all year which as been the lowest of the last 3 years.

What is top 15 determined by?
 
I think they can be a great run blocking team still. And thats their bread and butter. Cantwell, Samson and Mccoy are all maulers and road graders in the run game. All they have to do is be good enough in pass protection. Marty Brown will be back there to pick up blitzes as well.

Check Mensah’s numbers against the blitz too. He’s been sensational. I don’t expect Mensah to have the time Beck had, but it should be much better than he’s had at any point in his career. And he’s got an embarrassment of riches to throw to.

Beck averaged 238 passing yards per game. Ward averaged 332, and that includes the bowl where he only played a half.

I think it’s fair to expect about 275 a game for Mensah, and that’s taking into account we’re going to blow a bunch of teams out. He should flirt with 3500 yards in the regular season.

He had 3900 at dookie last year. I think he easily surpasses 4K going into the ACCG. We just can’t be shutting **** down when we up by 2-3 scores like last year! Step on everybody’s throats!
 
The biggest worries are the tackles to me, true freshman and someone at a new position

IOL i think can be just as good if not better, just have to build chemistry and hope ryan stays healthy
 
On recent podcast Todd McShay says Mensah is right behind Dante Moore as passers he trusts most in the pocket. I know he’s not some generational scout but he watches all these QB’s
