Encouraging defensive stat

Fellas & for my ladies, imma be honest….I’m starting to question the validity of PFF.

I’ve now watched this game 2x. There were mucho times Bryce had more time on his hands than a time keeper, and he was just roaming, and then pressure came late. So I’m sure that’s being included, and that’s hella misleading.

The closest I seen w/ true pressure was Chantz on the sack/fumble & the delayed Flagg blitz in the end zone. Other than that, even though we blitzed, it seem every play, the pressure came way after the fact & he made Houdini blush w/ his escapes.

After Bama beat the #2 team in the championship game by almost 30 points, it’s tough to ignore.

In fairness, Justin was 100% that game, and iirc, Sermon went out on his first carry, too. Fully loaded Bama was going against an OSU team missing one of its big guns & the biggest gun was missing some bullets in the clip.

Stop. The officiating wasn’t trash but that play in the endzone was 100.0% NOT grounding. Just a smart play by a fantastic player.
True but the very next play on the long TD McCloud was being held in the end zone. That is where the Safety should have been called.

To be clear, I'm not trying to say that the terrible officiating is why we lost. Alabama is just a much much better football team than we are. Point blank, end of story. Now having ceded that point, I will state unequivocally for the record that the officiating in this game was so atrocious, so abysmal and so beyond the pale in terms of the level of sheer incompetence that would be required for all of those missed calls to be chalked up to human error that any rational individual would be compelled by logic and reason to suspect the possibility that the officiating crew had been compromised.

The play calls were also perfect , he likely had two calls to make dictated by our coverage. Most good oc’s expose Manny’s D , even if the qb isn’t great. It’s fish in a barrel.
right watching Manny call defense is like watching a kid playing madden do the all blitz over and over.

What ppl are ignoring the MOST is Bryce Young's escapability and quick decision making skills. Ppl see we only had 1 sack and think our Dline played trash but dude threw out of at least 2 more "could-of-been" sacks at literally the very last sec. That's something that King needs to learn but I doubt he will at this point in his career.
And they held A LOT!!

And for a 1st game starter had the ball out pretty quick.

lol 143 points or whatever the last 3 games. Kelly Bryant also looked like Tom Brady against a Manny Diaz defense.

Bryce young. Some random tattoo artist Virginia QB. Wisconsin lefty who threw the ball like a girl. Who else do we wanna give manny an excuse for? Kelly Bryant. List goes on and on. It’s not hard to play quarterback against manny. Receivers have nothing but grass around them

#3 in the country in YPP allowed the last time he coordinated a defense here. Alabama, with the most talent on earth and the best coach ever finished 18th in YPP allowed last year. Gave up 48 to Ole Miss. 46 to the gator. It happens.

Yeah this is how u man use stats. Diaz will have 15 tfls per game in v UAB, Bethune and APP st, then 5 tfls per game v UNC and Clemson and give up 40 points in those two games.

Then man says Diaz defense is garbage, yall be like his defense is amazing, #5 in TFLs with 11 per game. Lmao. Its too funny man.

That number is only vs FBS competition.

I also never said his defense is amazing. I said the 3 years he coordinated the defense here, it was very good overall. Had the offenses those 3 years matched the defenses, we’d probably have 3 straight coastal championships. Certainly not the bar we’re trying to achieve, but I’d take it at this point considering it’s happened once in 50 years

Yeah App St and UAB are FBS.

If the list went on and on you would have kept listing them.

But it doesn’t so you didn’t.

Diaz defense is the bully that beats up the little skinny kid but chickens out when one of the football players square up to him. The funny thing about it, he played alot of man coverage in 2017. I went to all the home games and we play man under or 2 man under like every 3rd down and we got alot of hits on the QB as they had to hold the ball. The VT QB got a beating. Now they just dump it off for 15

I rewatched the game a saw at least 666 holds that were not called. Saban is Satan.

Yes, but they can replicate those stats against power 5 teams, you know lime Clemson and UGA just did to each other.

Gotcha. Just trying to follow here. So if Clemson and UGA demolish G5 teams (like we do), but we get gutted by P5 teams and Clemson/UGA replicate those same stats, can you explain to me like I’m 5 how Miami finished with better YPP metrics than both those teams in 2018? I’m just throwing stuff against the wall here, so bear with me. But I would think (could be wrong) that if Clemson and UGA dominated everybody they played, and Miami dominated weaker competition but got their **** pushed in by any/all good teams, then those schools would have better numbers than Miami. But they didn’t. Were the numbers fudged? Do you think Manny had them changed somehow? Trying to cover all angles here.

We played alot of horrible offensive teams in 2018. Just like we did in Diaz first year as a HC when he lost to 2 win previous year UNC, LA Tech and FIU. I would have to dig into those metrics. But its not even a question. Feasts on bad team, **** pushed in by good teams. And when you say better. If you mean we give up say 7 yards per play and the team 5 places below us gives up 7.3 yards per play. Thats negligible. When we played Clemson we had all the stats......only stat that mattered, 38-3. But its kool the offense was trash so its ok to get ran through for 38 points. Im sure thats what you're gonna say.
