Encouraging defensive stat

Manny has never disguised blitz’s well, and you can bet your bottom dollar Saban’s staff was looking at Manny’s blitz packages the week after they won the Natty. They had every package scouted a mile away, and were foaming at the mouth.

They knew when to slide/pinch the line. They knew when to keep the RB/TE in to protect. They knew when to swing the RB/TE out or delay them as a checkdown. People can make fun of Bill O about his Texans decisions all they want but he’s still an NFL caliber OC. Him vs Manny was taking candy from a baby.
THIS!!! They have a NFL head corch as oline coach also! Saban the week leading up to the game was calling out Manny's defense and saying how he never runs that **** and if your pressure doesnt get home there are big plays to be had. They had it scouted for months! The game was probably easier with our small players compared to the defense bama used to simulate

dude those teams give up over 500 yards and 50 points apiece last year to this team. Do you really expect that significant a drop off?
No but they can score, which is another means of pressure. Its a whole different ball game when the game is 27-24 going into the 4th as opposed to 27-0 before halftime. Also A&M in college station is gonna be a different challenge this time around if i had to bet

Then why you talking about my post said nothing about the original post when thats exactly what i referred to? They were saying how good Bryce Young is and blah blah. Yes he was great against us but i have to see him do it against less inept coaches such As UF in Gainesville and Texas A&M in college station and maybe even Ole Miss who can score with them. Thats simply what i said. Whats the need for the snide comments after that?
I'm responding to another poster who mentioned that your post isn't about the amount of pressure of defensive front put on Alabama.

Nah. It’s tackle to tackle when the ball is snapped. He was outside where the tight tackle was lined up at the snap when he threw the ball. Pretty easy call although real-time at the game from our sideline it looked a lot closer than it was.
I gotcha, I stand corrected, my son and I were there and both thought it was grounding however what you just described makes sense.

The post was not just about pressure. It transistioned into praising Bryce Young which is the part i referred to. So yes my post was about the original post.

As I’ve said I’m waiting until the end of the year to make judgments but if you can’t see red flags popping up your’e blind. We’re in year three and we see habits.

Not to derail the thread, but as much as it hurts me to say this, you usually don't see coaches grow out of these habits. A poor tackling team doesn't just shift focus and start putting it together. It's usually coaches not prioritizing things like tackling or blitz pickup that leads to poor tackling or protection breakdowns.

I was really hoping to see some outside influence in our D with the addition of Shoop and TRob.

We couldn't stop a screen pass. In all honesty he wasnt that impressive. He was good but if our defense could figure out a simple screen he wouldn't have done near as well.

Bryce Young is a good QB no doubt. But we didn't even make it tough on them. Leading from gun to tape and never needing to answer a score. Im not going overboard with the praise yet. He plays in Gainesville next in 2 weeks and later at A&M. Those teams have better coaches than us and will atleast know what it means to bracket a primary read. We will see what he does then
If he lights them up, will you come back and eat crow?

It's crazy how Bama is just widening the gap between them and everyone else. Even my ohio state buddies now recognize it.
Yep. My guy who is an avid ND fan called me after the game and said: Sucks, but you do realize Bama put up 52 points on OSU just a few months ago, right? You didn't think your guys would be able to do much better, I hope. Bama is a college all-star team and they will win it again this year. Nobody is touching them.

I was overall good with the play of our DL. They were aggressive and attacking, and while they harassed Young several times their problem is they've got to finish the play. Get the sack. And they need to do a better job of maintaining their lanes and not getting bottled up. But again, that was Bama's OL...

It's the horribly predictable blitz packages, our poor tackling, and our bad intermediate and downfield coverage . Coaches know that once past our DL, our Defense is swiss cheese. Our only hope is to go with our best athletes in the back seven. We absolutely cannot put Jennings and Ivey out there in coverage.

What ppl are ignoring the MOST is Bryce Young's escapability and quick decision making skills. Ppl see we only had 1 sack and think our Dline played trash but dude threw out of at least 2 more "could-of-been" sacks at literally the very last sec. That's something that King needs to learn but I doubt he will at this point in his career.
Stop it ... the King bashing is as tired as your post.

This!

He knew WHEN the pressure was coming, WHERE it was coming from, HOW to escape it, and WHO to deliver the ball to.

To me, it speaks to the young man skill, and quality coaching!

We made alot of mistakes, but Bryce Young looked elite! Those RBs are elite as well. Their blitz pickups were equally as impressive

So does Kenny Pickett.

Nothing we do on defense is unpredictable...Manny has been running this same sh*t since MIDDLE TENNESSEE

Pretty interesting here. Again, Bryce Young was just jaw-droppingly fantastic. I can’t say enough about that kid. In person, he was one of the most impressive college QBs I’ve ever seen in my entire life. But this should bode well for the rest of the season cause we won’t see Bama’s OL and we sure as **** won’t see another Bryce Young again.

Looks even better when you consider the type of team we were playing against. The blitzes that Diaz dialed up were generating pressure but they just weren't getting home and finishing the playing.

Also, credit to Zach McCloud; he generated a ton of pressure and played the run respectably. With more reps he'll be better. The potential for a 8+ sack season is there if he continues to improve as the season progresses.

JHH should start coming on starting this week with App. State.

Harvey was and continues to disappoint me. Hopefully it clicks for him.
