Emory Redshirt

Bro hes not a qb. Should just make the move to tight end. He will have a 10-15 year career in NFL if he makes the smart move . He will never make it as a qb in the NFL. Dont make a dumb move, your are getting an amazing degree. With that size and speed make the switch.
TE? Whats a TE? Do we have them?

The thought of preserving a shirt on a freshman quarterback when we have three total on scholarship is ridiculous. I’m not sure what TVD does after the season but the expectation is Emory is the guy moving forward after this season. Yeah it’s one game. But the totality of circumstances surrounding that game and the result is something we haven’t seen much of here in at least the past 15 years.

JB has zero chance of beating Emory out for the job. By all accounts he’s been a great teammate and if anyone’s shirt should not be burned it’s his so he can figure his next move.

IF Emory progresses and stays healthy we have our quarterback of the future present on the roster. If that happens, what makes anyone think he’s not going to bounce after junior year or obviously when he runs out of eligibility? At a minimum you have two more seasons with him but most likely 3. At 5-2 with a potential trajectory changing win I’d say you play him. All while keeping in mind that TVD had 1 foot out the door and 1 on a banana peel in the off-season.

Who cares about a redshirt at this point. We are one boneheaded call from having one loss. This team needs to win now and keep momentum going forward.

You can worry about redshirts later. Kids don’t stay for four years anyway at Miami so let them play and win for once. Wouldn’t it be nice to get 9 or 10 wins in a season.

He could still beat out Emory.

If Emory turns into an exceptional player, aka a multi-year starter who we never replace, then he's going to the NFL before he stays here 5 years.

If it turns out he's not very good, then he won't play here and won't be here for 5 years.

Either way, talking about his redshirt right now is irrelevant. He's either good and gone or sucks and is gone. It's not like he's buried on the depth chart and won't get a shot for 2-3 years and we'll wish he had a 5th year.

Here’s an option.

TVD returns, plays all of one of the remaining five games. We use Jacurri as the backup in the other four.

Both redshirts are preserved.
This was Dawson’s plan at the beginning of the season. Of course that was before the injury to TVD.

And then next year, you let TVD play 4, Emory play 4, and Jacurri play 4..then the transfer plays the postseason.

Redshirt all 4 QBs.

JB is a great kid with incredible athleticism. Gifts you can’t coach or teach. This staff needs to find a way to use him. I want to see him on field, he has an immediate impact.

[BGCOLOR=initial]If Jacurri Brown wants to find the field on a power five program, it needs to be at another position besides QB. [/BGCOLOR]I wonder if he can catch the ball. I've been underwhelmed by Riley Williams athleticism. I can see value in Brown being in a TE/H-back kind of role.

I'll say it again - We have one soft game left on the schedule and it's this Saturday at home against UVA. This is the perfect time to give Emory the start. He's got some confidence coming in. This would be a great program management move, which is why I know Mario wont do it.

We need a fully healed TVD for the three game stretch after UVA (@NC State, @FSU, home against Louisville). The finale' @BC will not be a cake walk either given the start time. The last thing we need is an 85% healthy TVD getting banged up in a 20 win against UVA at home, thus forcing Williams to start the next two on the road.

One of the next 3 is going to lay the wood on TVD... Emory better be ready
