Emoni Bates PORTAL

Who wants to bet that Emoni didn't have many offers worth a ****? A lot of coaches probably checked out on him, because once they saw the film of him playing college players, they realized that he was all hype. Best of luck to the young man, but generational talents don't end up at EMU after transferring.

Emoni Bates had plenty of offers. Was it the same as when he was considered #1 prospect coming out of HS? Probably not, but still had plenty of interest as a transfer. Bates is literally going back home. EMU is in his hometown. Being the man on that team should help him play thru mistakes and give him some confidence going forward. Development is going to be critical for him.

Emoni Bates had a lot of offers after Memphis. Was it the same as when he was considered #1 prospect coming out of HS? Probably not, but still had plenty of interest as a transfer. Nothing screams "We're good at player development" like EMU, a program that hasn't been to the NCAA Tournament in TWENTY FOUR YEARS. He could have chosen a number of midmajors where the program isn't a complete greasefire, some of whom are also in the state or at least nearby. Nothing about this move makes sense, unless it's a move where he knows that EMU is so desperate, they will **** near let him run the program.

Maybe he wants to be the best on a trash team, but that isn't going to help him get better, and honestly will be seen as a negative when he inevitably looks to leave either through the portal or to the League. Congrats, you scored a lot of points(Through sheer athleticism) on a team that rarely won, against competition that isn't great even by midmajor standards.

It's a long, long way from high end programs to EMU, and the going home angle doesn't explain it all. Timberlake is much the same way, the only difference is that Timberlake tried another decent program, got smoked there too and then ended up at a program most of us would be hard pressed to admit existed...

Bates was arrested last night on a firearms charge in Michigan.
Apparently, he borrowed someone's car and was pulled over. The police found a gun with a modified serial number. He's going to need to do some snitching if the gun isn't his and he wants to have a ball career.

Him reclassifying up gives him leeway. I understand they’re different cases, but after seeing Peyton Watson get drafted, no way in **** Emoni isn’t drafted IMO.

If he averages above 12 ppg on 42%+ FG someone will take him. Maybe mid 2nd like Kendall Brown.

Worst case scenario he gets a guaranteed 2 way. HS hype goes a long way on draft day

This is why parents will push their athlete kids to go away from home instead playing for the local school. Home 2 months and already in trouble.
