I don't think either are particularly HoF worthy. Gore...I love'em. But when was he ever a Top 5 RB in the NFL? Maybe his second year in the league? He has compiled a **** of a career, but how do you quantify a compiler versus the idea that he was never really considered great among his peers.

A comparison I'd make is...a longer career Corey Dillon. Is that a Hall of Famer? I don't know. Curtis Martin is going to be the apt comparison, but Martin was often considered better among his peers. Floyd Little getting in is going to be another comparison, but I don't think Little should have been in anyway, but he does open the flood gates.

Compare Edge to John Riggins and then tell me that James isn't Hall worthy. But you're right in general theory that the bar is set very high at the modern era RB position.

Edge and Riggins is a good HoF comp.

I know these guys have numbers...my issue is, is if you let say...Gore and Edge in...why not Fred Taylor or Steven Jackson? I'm not a slippery slope guy, but typically that is how these HoF votes go. Once you let someone in that is borderline, all of the other borderline guys end up getting in eventually.

RBs don't typically play well into their 30's, and be productive. Gore's done that.

Gore if he retires today would be 5th on the all-time rushing leaders list.

Gore's getting into the HOF.

If Edge never tore his ACL we aren't having this discussion, he was on some Marshall Faulk ish his first two years in the league and was clearly on the path to being one of the greatest backs ever. I'm on the fence about whether Edge gets in, but in my opinion he should make the cut.

As for Gore, he definitely belongs. He maintained a level of consistency that is very rare at the RB spot. He'll likely finish 4th all-time in rushing yards. Why are people even asking if he makes the HOF? It's obvious.

Dude just look at the company surrounding Gore's stats. Gore is a top 5 back. "Men lie, women lie but numbers don't lie!" Saying he was never considered one of the best among his peers is just not true. You can't amass those kind of numbers and not be considered among the best by those who know.

I always thought Gore was in the hall of very good but at this point you just can’t ignore the stats. 14k in an era where running the ball just isn’t as big of a priority like it used to be. Also the 4.4 average also sticks out. Gore is a shoe in for the HOF

Well, if you bring up injuries then don't forget Gore's bad ACL tear in '02.

Had Gore not gotten hurt, he could have been the greatest of all time. Not trying to exaggerate. I've only ever once seen high school film as other-worldly as Frank's (and yet not quite as impressive), and that was Adrian Peterson's.

I thought Najeh Davenport's film at Central could compare. One could argue he'd be just as good if he also didn't get injured

riggins got a ton of credence for his playoff production and carrying the skins to a super bowl. edge got screwed because his quarterback was a career postseason choke artist.

They put Terrell Davis in, gotta think Edge gets in as well. Not sure how many RB's had (4) different 1500 yards ruhing seasons like he had.

All the RB's with more yards than Edge*all in HOF
Smith had (3), Gore has (1), Payton had (4), Martin had (2), LT had (3), Bettis had (1), ****erson had (4), Dorsett had (1), Jim Brown had (3), Faulk had (0), AP had (2)

Side note Sanders had (5)

Frank Gore will be known to have played until there was nothing left in the tank, and a guy with the heart of Champ.

EJ's pro career showed us that yes he was good, but only played as long as he could command the salary that he thought he deserved. Probably could have played 3-4 more years.

Both great players, but if i had to choose one for NFL HOF, I'd go with Frank!
