EEs

Let me amend my statements, because they were wrong. We can theoretically sign more than 29.

At this time, we don't really know how many guys we will be able to enroll for 2016. We currently have 83 guys on scholarship and 13 seniors. However, we know that in the next year we will have guys transfer/dismissed (and if the last few years w/ Golden are any indication, it will be a higher than average number). Still, for instance, we would need 10 transfers/dismissals/juniors declare for the draft just to allow us to enroll 25 total guys for 2016 (EEs and regular enrollees).

So, can we sign more than 30 guys in 2016 and have a bunch count towards 2015? Yes. Is it realistic? Not unless we have an awful lot of guys leave the program in the next year.

Hypothetically if graduating SR is the only attrition then we would have 70 available scholly which would mean 2016 would be restricted to 15 kids which would take the scholly number back to 84
That is true, but the same class is a testament to the extent that non senior attrition occurs in college football. This class of 15 had 33 on signing day in 2012.

Gotcha so you have to recruit with flipping in mind...

We do not have 84 scholarship kids

It's hard to tell how many scholarship players we have since we don't know which walk ons were awarded them but with Kidd recently leaving and the guys we just signed we have to be around 78-80 right now.

That is a part of it. but i am referring more to what happens once you get on a college campus. (no one likes talking about these things) kids get injured and can't play any more, kids fail their classes and become ineligible, kids were mis evaluated and simply cannot hack it, kids choose the weed or the trouble over football, kids develop very quickly and go pro after their junior season. There are lots of reasons attrition occurs, and it does everywhere. but you can almost guarantee between now and the start of the season that roster number will be lower, as it will after the season. It is what it is.

As many people have been mentioning. I always preach it. Injuries, Suspensions, Transfers, declaring early entree, kids who don't pan out. Many things come into play.

I get the feeling and vibe with how big the class is already. Will
Be one of those foundation type of classes. Where a big number is signed. 30 ish range. Maybe a little under or a little over.

Remember not all kids qualify either....

We're a decent amount under 80 scholarship kids at the moment. Once we lose the seniors we'll be down enough to be able to sign 28-32 and stay at 84 or 85

Let's hope we get as many EE'd as possible this year so our staff can focus on closing the big names. And if there's coaching changes they're already in school

You would think you know who will qualify before signing day

Assuming all 21 signees qualify and if we had no transfers/dismissals, we have 83 right now for 2015 (assuming no other walk-ons get scholarships). However, given recent trends of transfers/dismissals, we will probably be under 80 by the time September rolls around:

Sometimes you take some in hopes that they do end up qualifying if they are worth it though Poppa Shaq. Trayone Gray.

From this list of 80, the 13 seniors will be gone --> 17 available scholarships.
Guys that could transfer (Crow, Jones, O'Donnell, Hamilton, Moore, Odogwu, Knighton, Grimsley, Brown, Mayes) + Guys that might leave for other reasons --> 25 available scholarships.
And if early enrolles are able to be applied to the 83 from 2015 year (1 reduction from sanctions) --> 28 available scholarships

And this is probably a maximum.

The class of 2012 who have eligibility as 5th year seniors may be asked not to come back. They will have the option to play anywhere without siting out as long as they graduated. Corey White was an example of this at FIU. That is also how we picked up guys like Gilbert and Pat O'Donnell.

Guy who fall in this category after next year: Gray Crow, Jake O'Donnell, D'Mauri Jones, Jelani Hamilton, Earl Moore, M Goudis, Taylor Gadbois, Raushawn Jenkins, Malcolm Lewis.

Some of those guy will obviously come back to start or play a significant role in their 5th year, but some will opt to transfer so they can get playing time.

Out of those guys, I doubt Lewis transfers. I could see all the others going, which is why I even listed some.
