Edgerrin James interview with 'Footballville'...

"He will be driving from Miami to the mountaintop of his sport in a custom-made, tricked-out, vintage 1975 ragtop Chevrolet Caprice. It has crazy-big 28-inch wire wheels. With gold interior. The body paint is flat black, with the Hall of Fame’s logo and artwork all across it in gold.

The sound system has enough bass to rattle teacups off kitchen shelves as it drips by.

They made “Edge” wait six years past his first eligibility to invite him to town. He’s going in style.

Well, that’s the plan, anyway. ”It’ll be up there if everything goes right,” he told us.

He isn’t showing off. He’s being him. He hopes to get as many other Hall of Famers as possible to autograph his ride and then auction it off. He is a businessman now, after all. He just isn’t one who cares to be fake and sanitize the street off himself in order to be that. It was the same during his 11-year NFL career, and at the University of Miami before that, and growing up in tough Immokalee before that."

One of my favorite Canes and my all time favorite Colt. Living in LA always enjoyed that UCLA game performance just a little bit more.

Nobody loves Edge like me...and I realize his 299yds vs UCLA was unbelievable....but keep in mind that Covingtons 71yd TD to Tana (that pulled us within 3...38-35....and Mondriel Fultchers 30yd TD were no slouchs...If Ed Reed doesn't cause that fumble (Delvin Brown recovered) then this convo is mute...Covington had the most underrated arm in UM History....Kid had a cannon...
Yep! Wish he’d have had two seasons as a starter.

Edge's highlights while at the U, honestly, this should've been a lot longer(most of this is the UCLA game)but from the very moment he stepped on the field, he was spectacular. His 7 game run in 98 which culminated in the bolw game vs NCState(his final game as a Hurricane) was as good a stretch as Ive seen a UM players have for sustained dominance

I still rank Ottis Anderson 1a, because he was the first great Cane RB in my time. And as @SWFLHurricane noted, place Ottis on the JJ teams of the mid 80s and look out.

Edge would be 1b. He was a natural, he seemed to glide through defenses. First time I saw him was a road game at Baylor. I think he scored on his first carry, a 30+yard TD that looked effortless. He was key to Butch re-building, and had he played 1999-2001 he could have been a 2,000-yard season back. Had no flaws.

My favorite story is a description of Edge when he arrived. He spent high school summers working in the sugar cane fields and walked in a grown-*** man, not intimidated anyone.

Watermelon fields iirc. Lugging f'ing watermelons all day in the sun.
