Ed Reed watch

Why do people think that just because you were a great player you will make a great coach.

Most of the best coaches did little or nothing on the playing field. This infatuation to continually bring back ex Cane players is what’s partially to blame for us being in this situation in the first place.

Have you heard him in the locker room..what a motivator

He doesn't need to be a great coach on day 1. He'd need to be a committed position coach on day 1. Let's not pretend like he couldn't do it if he wanted to. The ability is clearly all there so let's not play stupid.

You'd just think a HOF like him would have better things to do than continue to build rapport all year with teenage premadonnas.

You can't convince me he didn't study game film prior to seeing these QB's. He wasn't ST26-ing everything with athleticism.
NFL playoff record for picks. He knew what he was seeing and would be able to relate the film discipline needed by young safeties.

Dint hire anyone you can’t fire.

He’s largely unproven as a coach. as a player got by largely on instinct that can’t be taught...total riverboat gambler...and for the record, my favorite player ever.

So what happens if he stinks as a coach here? Who wants to fire Ed Reed?

I get your point to an extent and Ed did have great instincts but instincts alone don’t make players as great as he was. Ed was a student of the game. He understood the game and didn’t just watch film. He studied his opponents and learned to know their tendencies so even when he did take a gamble it was a strategic one. There’s a lot to be learned from the guy.

If he would accept a defensive analyst/qc role (a la Sark at Bama) for cheap, then this would be a coup. Manny will be able to evaluate if Reed is coaching material. If so, he can get potentially get promoted to coaching the safeties, then upwards as he proves himself.

How could he be a bad coach?? He knows things and understands things a way that no other player could ever imagine. Yes. He can't teach how to become the next Ed Reed but he can try and help mentor and get these kids right to win nattys and get drafted first round..EASy
That's exactly why we shouldn't hire him, he's an instinct player not a technical player

... He knows things and understands things a way that no other player could ever imagine...

In no way, shape, or form does that make anyone a good coach or inspiring leader.

The world is full of expert technicians who couldn't teach or lead their way out of a wet paper bag.

Im not saying E Reed cant coach, but his playing days (he wasnt on field coach like R Lewis) dont indicate he can. I believe he was let go at Buffalo when **** Rexy was fired.

If he is that good, why out of work?
