I hope that when Mike Thumped Banda....he left an impression of the 2001 NC Ring on his forehead....
This is why I have a serious problem with Baker being part of the new staff. It is going to be incredibly awkward with tension in those meetings when the new DC changes everything Baker implemented in our Defense. In other words, it won’t work.sounds like banda was a real issue and when manny stepped to the hc role it got worse because manny wasn’t there as closely to manage it.
not sure this surprises me given his background, personality and closeness to manny, and the types of people he had to navigate. but it’s sad nonetheless because it highlights just how amateurish the past bunch of years have been on D. we had a personable ex bartender with an insecurity complex and a close relationship with manny pursuing an agenda that wasn’t in the best interests of the kids or team. and bad mouthing a guy in rumph who for all his recruiting shortcomings was and is a true cane, and knows more about playing db than banda prolly ever will.
i sure hope manny understands that part of the job of a leader is to stamp this isht out and make sure it doesn’t recur. when people talk about culture, this is squarely part of the discussion. if manny’s own ‘boys’ aren’t on the same page with team goals, how can they expect anyone else to be?
Why is sarcasm so dammm difficult to extrapolate on this board? My sincere apologies to the OP but with all due respect, I have sat down with my best friend Manure Diaz himself. And he told me (while toking a cuban) that he has complete confidence that his ***** Baker is more than capable of leading a champion defense. He reluctantly confided that the defensive firings here recently are simply a result of their inferiority complex because of ER20 being in the building.
I have no concrete proof that manure is a friend of mine, but I hope my cane brothers will take me at my word. Keep the faith
Truth hurts seminole troll. I hired and fired for a living fella. Facts. Try to keep it quasi intelligent. You are as intelligent as a stray pubic hair. This is the logic of someone living in Trailerhasse.
I agree. It doesn't make sense from a leadership perspective for manny to keep baker as a supporting role. If he's DC, well, I don't like the choice but that's less weird than demoting him. I could see moving him to an analyst role (outside of the coaching group) if manny wanted to keep him around. This is why I have a serious problem with Baker being part of the new staff. It is going to be incredibly awkward with tension in those meetings when the new DC changes everything Baker implemented in our Defense. In other words, it won’t work.
Banda leaving already has proven to be a blessing in disguise because it brought us TRob. Hopefully, we get similar news for replacing Baker.
Eagle rare is delicious! This calls for a drink and smoke!

Told you Mike thumped that ***....
That should be a fireable offense. Use all the tools you have at your disposal! That’s awful... you are given a tool/gift (Ed’s Knowledge and brain) and you avoid him and don’t pick it apart
Have to wonder if the situation got worse after Manny came back and hired Baker to call plays. Remember, just 2-3 weeks earlier Richt hired Banda to call plays. There was almost certainly immediate tension.
After 24 months, it bottomed out and now that entire staff is being remade for the better.
I dont try to interpret other's writing or words, life is too short for me to try and figure out what going on in some one else's head but I think he was highlighting the fact that the dude did say Manny's boys are the problem but then finished with "not one member of the defensive staff has ever asked me a question about defense" Not one member of the defensive staff would seemingly include Mike. What OP meant to say is up for grabs but I think it is a reasonable interpretation by the guy you were responding to.That's not what he told you... You guys don't listen. He said MANNYS BOYS... Mike was never one of manny's boys. The exact opposite.
And what if manny created it?sounds like banda was a real issue and when manny stepped to the hc role it got worse because manny wasn’t there as closely to manage it.

Oh, I've already said he bears responsibility for that. I just don't know what more to say about it. He'll evolve or get fired. And even if he fixes some of his more egregious flaws, he'll probably still get fired for just not being good enough. But ... sigh. Hopefully he'll somehow become good enough, or recruit well enough that the next guy will have a better shot at raising the program up a couple levels. In the meantime, hope the game tonight is fun to watch. And what if manny created it?
Problem is you guys year after year assume manny the king of the off-season is doing this and doing that... Meanwhile reality is the only thing he's done is crash a keg party... He's not running some temp firm where he's replacing ****** staff by the pound. What has HE done this year thats not reactionary? Even in mike's case. It was mike being fed up with all the ****ery why hes gone. It was a mutual decision. Banda was completely banda's call and that's been going on since he got here. But anytime people tell y'all if y'all only had a clue it's labeled as defending mike constantly. So regardless what move has manny made? He's replacing people that left. Period. At best if someone does come in with a name as dl coach(probably partridge) he's gonna do what? Make him co dc & pretend the system has changed. LolThis is why I have a serious problem with Baker being part of the new staff. I have asked in the “Stubborn Manny” thread what exactly has he fixed? Banda left. Stroud left. Baker and Patke remain. To your point, T Rob and DL coach are reactionary moves. He isn’t getting ahead of this issue and fixing it.Problem is you guys year after year assume manny the king of the off-season is doing this and doing that... Great List. I'd add the Romeo and Julieta Wide Churchill to that Cubans list. Haven't jumped on the Plasencia stuff yet. Have to find somewhere in Miami that carries a good amount of their stuff so I can try it before committing to buying a box or two. Really Interested in that Alma Fuerte Hexagono.Non-Cubans

I honestly hope this is true. It's apparent to anyone with eyes that there is enough sample size on Manny's defenses (going back to his coordinator days) that points to the fact this defensive system gets absolutely shredded against teams with a heartbeat.
Not just the staff, but the entire defensive system needs to be scrapped. Only at the University of Miami is such a responsible party also embedded as the head coach. Incompetence has been running deep in Coral Gables for two decades, so having Reed on staff can only help. He was easily one of the smartest players to ever put on a set of pads.
It's also becoming more and more apparent why the Highsmith hire didn't happen either. I'd be willing to bet he made some recommendations during his interview that ruffled Manny's feathers.
If Manny doesn't hire a self standing qualified DC to bring in their own scheme his time here as HC will be short.
