No need to preface it, let's just get into it.
- Manny Diaz: We all know this was Manny's first game as an HC and a huge one at that. Overall, I think he was average. On one hand, we had some game management issues across the board. On the other, his gameplan kept us in it. One thing I loved seeing from Manny was how fired up he was. Going to our guys on the benches and getting in their faces. Haven't seen anyone do that here since Butch. He's got the fire and intelligence, he just needs the experience to put it together. Final Grade: C
- Dan Enos: Our offense had some nice sustained drives, and we completed more than 60% of our passes for only the third time in almost two years. Nevertheless, some of the playcalling seemed off and didn't cater to our strengths. The Tate packages were a bust, and we didn't consistently go back to what was working. Enos was at a huge disadvantage because of the OL play but didn't help himself with long-developing play-action passes. I think this offense will be consistent and good by the end of the season, but tonight was too hit and miss. Also, our Redzone offense was terrible. Final Grade: C-
- Blake Baker: Miami's defense didn't miss a beat. Our guys kept us in this game and came up with four huge turnovers. Once again, our inconsistent offense prevented us from winning this. Baker though, showed that there won't be a big dropoff from this last year to now. We shut down Florida's running game, and UF's passing game was mostly limited to two big plays. We've got a solid DC. Our defense kept us in this game and made all the stops they needed. Final Grade: A-
- Todd Stroud: Miami's defensive line shut down Florida's running game, but failed to put enough consistent pressure on Felipe Franks to get them behind the chains. Miami needs to find an answer at DT. Our DL played well, but not to the level I or many of us expected. Final Grade: B-
- Ephraim Banda: I think our safeties played well tonight and held their own. Considering their lack of in-game experience, I think we've got a solid duo in Carter and Hall. Add the fact that Bolden will be up and running soon, and we've got the chance to have some elite safeties. Final Grade: B+
- Butch Barry: Barry arguably inherited the least talented and worst position group on the team. Stacy Stearls was a disaster and his lack of recruiting and coaching will cost us. Nevertheless, the OL was absolutely atrocious tonight. Barry needs to get on it with recruiting and identifying a starting rotation that can actually give this offense a chance. Barry needs to show this line can improve from now to the end of the season, or else his tenure in Miami will be a short one. Final Grade: F
- Jonathan Patke: At the Striker position, Romeo Finley played great. On special teams, it was a whole other matter. Bubba Baxa was 2/3 on the night and missed a crucial chip shot. Louis Hedley had some flashes, and I do believe he'll only get better. Jeff Thomas muffed a punt that should've never been muffed or fielded. All in all, a poor performance on special teams, much like last year, cost us. Final Grade: D
- Stephen Field: Brevin Jordan hasn't missed a beat from last year. He played great and made a huge impact. Will Mallory was a non-factor and was very disappointing. He dropped a few passes. The blocking wasn't great, and Jordan got called on a few penalties. Final Grade: B
- Eric Hickson: Deejay Dallas and Cam'Ron Harris made some big plays in this game. Our RB's showed up despite a terrible OL. The RB room will be a strength of the team this year, especially one Lingard comes in. Final Grade: A-
- Taylor Stubblefield: Other than KJ Osborn and Jeff Thomas, Miami's other receivers were non-factors. Thomas made some boneheaded plays and dropped a crucial pass. Osborn was solid but didn't get enough touches. We need other WR's to contribute, and tonight they didn't. Final Grade: C-
- Mike Rumph: I think it's fair to say our DB's exceeded expectations tonight. Despite a very talented UF WR room, we held our own. We did have some issues with keeping contain on the outside, and Frierson got burned on a go-route. All in all, this will be a solid group of DB's by the end of the year. They made plays, and will only get better. Final Grade: B
