No need to preface it, let's just get into it.
  • Manny Diaz: We all know this was Manny's first game as an HC and a huge one at that. Overall, I think he was average. On one hand, we had some game management issues across the board. On the other, his gameplan kept us in it. One thing I loved seeing from Manny was how fired up he was. Going to our guys on the benches and getting in their faces. Haven't seen anyone do that here since Butch. He's got the fire and intelligence, he just needs the experience to put it together. Final Grade: C

  • Dan Enos: Our offense had some nice sustained drives, and we completed more than 60% of our passes for only the third time in almost two years. Nevertheless, some of the playcalling seemed off and didn't cater to our strengths. The Tate packages were a bust, and we didn't consistently go back to what was working. Enos was at a huge disadvantage because of the OL play but didn't help himself with long-developing play-action passes. I think this offense will be consistent and good by the end of the season, but tonight was too hit and miss. Also, our Redzone offense was terrible. Final Grade: C-

  • Blake Baker: Miami's defense didn't miss a beat. Our guys kept us in this game and came up with four huge turnovers. Once again, our inconsistent offense prevented us from winning this. Baker though, showed that there won't be a big dropoff from this last year to now. We shut down Florida's running game, and UF's passing game was mostly limited to two big plays. We've got a solid DC. Our defense kept us in this game and made all the stops they needed. Final Grade: A-

  • Todd Stroud: Miami's defensive line shut down Florida's running game, but failed to put enough consistent pressure on Felipe Franks to get them behind the chains. Miami needs to find an answer at DT. Our DL played well, but not to the level I or many of us expected. Final Grade: B-

  • Ephraim Banda: I think our safeties played well tonight and held their own. Considering their lack of in-game experience, I think we've got a solid duo in Carter and Hall. Add the fact that Bolden will be up and running soon, and we've got the chance to have some elite safeties. Final Grade: B+

  • Butch Barry: Barry arguably inherited the least talented and worst position group on the team. Stacy Stearls was a disaster and his lack of recruiting and coaching will cost us. Nevertheless, the OL was absolutely atrocious tonight. Barry needs to get on it with recruiting and identifying a starting rotation that can actually give this offense a chance. Barry needs to show this line can improve from now to the end of the season, or else his tenure in Miami will be a short one. Final Grade: F

  • Jonathan Patke: At the Striker position, Romeo Finley played great. On special teams, it was a whole other matter. Bubba Baxa was 2/3 on the night and missed a crucial chip shot. Louis Hedley had some flashes, and I do believe he'll only get better. Jeff Thomas muffed a punt that should've never been muffed or fielded. All in all, a poor performance on special teams, much like last year, cost us. Final Grade: D

  • Stephen Field: Brevin Jordan hasn't missed a beat from last year. He played great and made a huge impact. Will Mallory was a non-factor and was very disappointing. He dropped a few passes. The blocking wasn't great, and Jordan got called on a few penalties. Final Grade: B

  • Eric Hickson: Deejay Dallas and Cam'Ron Harris made some big plays in this game. Our RB's showed up despite a terrible OL. The RB room will be a strength of the team this year, especially one Lingard comes in. Final Grade: A-

  • Taylor Stubblefield: Other than KJ Osborn and Jeff Thomas, Miami's other receivers were non-factors. Thomas made some boneheaded plays and dropped a crucial pass. Osborn was solid but didn't get enough touches. We need other WR's to contribute, and tonight they didn't. Final Grade: C-

  • Mike Rumph: I think it's fair to say our DB's exceeded expectations tonight. Despite a very talented UF WR room, we held our own. We did have some issues with keeping contain on the outside, and Frierson got burned on a go-route. All in all, this will be a solid group of DB's by the end of the year. They made plays, and will only get better. Final Grade: B

I will know all I need to know about this staff in 2 weeks. We play a prime time game on the road vs. the worst roster in the coastal that has re-animated corpse of Mack Brown on their sideline. If we don’t beat them by 3 touchdowns or more, we don’t got the guys. This team sucks and we should demolish them

Our DBs did not exceed expectations. Frenks has a terrible arm.

I mentioned this in the other thread......but there is definitely some cause for concern with the coaching.

How in the name of all things holy do they not give the tackles help in the form of keeping a TE like Irvin in to block and help control the edge???

How in the name of all things holy do they not move Scaife back to tackle if they prefer not to keep a TE in to block???

What hurts is the better team didn't win tonight. Between the muffed punt, a missed gimme field goal, and ridiculous amount of penalties we basically become example number 1 as to how you **** away a game you should win.

Not really Patke’s fault that JT4 fumbled, or that Baxa missed that field goal. I think you can, however, criticize how we let them convert that fake punt. I’d also argue that we need to put more pressure on opposing team’s punters in the future. UF’s guy sat back there and had a picnic before booming it away to us. I think our coverage teams were much improved, though. And obviously, Hedley is a huge upgrade at punter.

Personally Im going to be watching Stubblefield from here on out and how he handles this WR core. I was pretty disappointed this game. Tell Manny this Tate at WR BS needs to stop.

Final overall grade: 2.11 GPA. What hurt us REALLY hurt us.

The two least inspiring hires of the group to me were Barry and Stubblefield. Early returns are not great. Barry never ran his own room at either level and Stubblefield has never developed a big time playmaker. Both guys inability to get our best players ready to play in our biggest game is a big red flag. Neither are overly great on the trail so far. They both have some say (you would think) in two prevalent issues on the field tonight: our tackles inability to do much of anything, holding calls and Tate Martell getting significant burn at WR. They are on the clock

How in the name of all things holy do you not move the pocket to keep your QB upright.

How in the name of all things holy do you not run screens or draws to slow the pass rush down.I saw one QB draw and it went for about 15.Never saw another one QB or otherwise.

How in the name of all things holy do your LBers who are 4 yr starters be out of position all the time?

They tried running screens....but in all honesty I was more disappointed by the lack of shallow crosses.

You know...the same thing I've been screaming about for the last 15 years. Given how little time we have to throw that **** route should be part of EVERY passing play we run.

how does berry get an f? just bc theres no talent on the OL.... the OL was *** last year same players different coach..........

How are we a better team than Florida. Please explain.

This game was a play or two away from getting out of hand in the first half.

Everyone of you couldn’t believe we were up at halftime.

Both teams were ******. But in no way can you say the better team lost tonight.

What would you grade him?

OP recognized that Barry needs time, but still wanted to rate him for the game. F seems tucking fair to me

They had every advantage. It was basically a home game for them and they had the more experienced QB with an overall more experienced roster.

Even with all that...it took a muffed punt, 15 penalties (mostly on offense), and a missed extra point distance field goal to somehow find a way to lose this game.

That's a 4 or 5 loss Florida team. Mark this down, print it out, and paste it to your fridge with a happy face on it. We'll look back and really regret losing this one. It was there for the taking.

I think they are a 4 loss team too. But so are we.

If we play this game 10 teams they probably win 6 and we win 4.
