Buchanan and SJ should both be receiving significant Center reps just in case.
We need the best 5 guys in we can get. I can see a scenario where Buchanan at center allows us to play Meriweather/Congdon/Wilkerson/Hawks/Minaya

Like the question is is one of those guys above Rodriguez or not. Secondly would SJ/Buchanan have a good enough grasp on the protections to make the line calls, and also not suck at snapping.

Rod would be solid at all the calls- but the physical side of his game is probably lacking. I hate it too because he is a really good kid and comes from a very solid family- he can be serviceable against some schools- but probably not near consistent enough against the better teams we will face.

Rod would be solid at all the calls- but the physical side of his game is probably lacking. I hate it too because he is a really good kid and comes from a very solid family- he can be serviceable against some schools- but probably not near consistent enough against the better teams we will face.

Well it’s also just worth pointing out he was the starting LG the staff chose in 24 against UF. They trusted him for that. And UF had Banks healthy…

Center is also much more of a Cerebral and Agility+Power position than just pure size and overall athleticism…. So I’m not exactly worried about about his strnegth and dudes been here over half a decade in same offense… the mental part better be there…

SJ to me can ONLY play center. Far too small for guard. Woodrow/Sparks won’t be ready. Buchanan getting Center snaps is only other option imo

We had eight linemen on the roster last year who had two or more years of experience. This year it’s six. We have six true freshmen on the roster.

I loved the role SJ played last year as a blocking TE/FB. Assuming Samson is a full go for fall camp, I’d expect SJ to slide back into that role. He’s too talented to keep off the field. I agree he’s too small for guard, which is why I’m hoping he can work out at center. I personally think he's super talented

Also, wasn’t the only reason Rodriguez started against UF because McCoy was hurt?
