Dylan Raiola Enters Portal

Haven’t watched a ton of Raiola. Reading some of the posts from Nebraska… they’re mostly positive regarding his time there and his contribution to the program even if he didn’t turn into quite the savior they hoped.. Whereas here people act like he’s a diva…

They seem to have more beef with the uncle who was in charge of the OL which was **** and some of the family were more headaches than Dylan.

tbh I’d be less concerned about that family dynamic aspect here. The Raiola name doesn’t carry the same kind of clout or significance as it does in Nebraska... I also think an OL like Mario along with another respected coach like Mirabel maybe the relationship there would be better. Plus Mario has done pretty good at the whole culture part.

Leavitt to Mario to most likely take a very long time again and miss out on Leavitt

Raiola took that Nebraska team to 9-3 and outdueled Sorsby. He threw for 18 and 6 so he isn’t TO prone and showed growth compared to last year in that regard. He also completed 72% of his passes.

Give this kid the keys, just drill it in his head that his Heisman trophy comes by playing within the O, not by hero ball.

I read an article about Raiola by two guys who cover Nebraska and one of the topics was Raiola's lack of a deep ball. They were baffled by it. They posted a few clips of him under throwing his WR pretty significantly. It reached a point were he wasn't even attempting to throw anything over like.. 20 yards.

I'm not for or against him yet. But I'm curious if anyone else has noticed what they saw.
Yeah you can see on his highlights that he doesn't know how to throw the deep ball - puts way too much air under it.

That said, I don't think Ward had a good deep ball either and that worked out ok...

Strong arm, but heavy feet. Needs to lose a few pounds to increase quickness IMO. Watched more Nebraska games than I care to talk about. He'll flourish with a decent OL. That Husker OL was dumpster juice during his tenure. Dana Holgorsen had to literally beg Emmett Johnson to return. Dylan seems like a good cheerleader and locker room leader though. His dad has always been the issue I hear. I know Wario doesn't want that added headache.
