Urban had to leave town to get back to a title game. He will flame out in Big 10 like he did in SEC. Then on to ND for another title maybe. Bama has won 3 in the meantime and FSU one. Didn't LSU sneak one in also. That is against Auburn and OSU. Keep in mind the OSU was playing OR -- one of them had to win. Oh my, Auburn beat OR too. So if we go with this spread thing all you guy want, we better play OR in the NC game. Granted, if you get Cam Netown for our QB, I am ok with whatever offense you want to run, but how is the OC he had doing at Auburn now? Come to think of it, Auburn and OSU had pretty good defenses against OR in those games. Maybe, just maybe that was the difference and defense is STILL WHAT MATTERS. Hum, just a thought.
That's fine, but OSU was still losing to bum teams like Illinois and Wisconsin when Tressel was coaching them with a top-10 defense.
OSU had higher ranked defense with Tressel. In-fact, Fickel, who sucks, was his dcoordinator and their defense were usually ranked in the top-10. Doesn't matter. Urban has a higher margin of victory as OSUs coach and avgs. more total wins per season, when compared to Tressel. All 4 QBs that have logged in time for Urban at OSU are/were not considered Cam Newton type talents. In-fact, Kenny Guiton was an after though for Tressel's staff and all he did was break the single game passing TD record. Urban's 3.5 years have had his teams break all kinds of school records on offense.
Saying he's going to flame out, just because he didn't dominate during his last season at UF is dumb. He's won at least 12 games each year at OSU and I don't see that stopping with their resources, monopoly on in-state talent, and his ability to cherry pick players from other states.
Urban is one heck of a coach, there is no doubt. OSU, unlike UF is the historic top dog of that conference. It is akin to Urban taking Bama job in SEC. No doubt he is and will do well, very well. But history question his sustainability -- actually almost anyone's today. Give Ole Crazy Jim over at the other UM a couple years and revisit what I say. Jim will crush his little head like Saban did and Urban will feel the call of Touchdown Jesus and the Golden Dome -- frigging dude just loves all our enemies. I only wish we get Butch back and help chase he to the Dome and then end his career with a beat down. I will give you one thing, Tressel bet us with a big slow QB running up the middle over and over again -- Randy never did figure out how to stop that. That said, our problem is not our offensive scheme. It is our BOT's resistance to winning.
Pryor isn't slow. I coached kids that played for OSU when Pryor was on that team. They time their 40s with lasers and he ran in the high 4.3s with 5-finger shoes. He ran the fastest 40 on that OSU team and was known as their best athlete.
I was taking about the white kid who beat us in the NC game with basically a QB draw over and over again. Randy was DC then. Not the game in the Columbus with Randy as HC. I forget his name.
