Tears Duck Tears

"There are plenty of concerns with this football team right now, but for the first time in a long time at Oregon, coaching has moved near the top of the list."

"The Ducks have looked unprepared. They have played inconsistent football. They lack discipline. They haven't played as hard or as physically as either of their first two opponents. The attention to detail is lacking. The execution is inconsistent at best.

This should have every alarm going off inside the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex. Oregon's roster is simply too talented for what we have watched through two games."

People are not too happy with Lanning and his staff of 33 coaches, assistants and analysts right now....

Just throwing this out there. He’s under contract through 2031 and per ChatGPT, his contract is fully guaranteed if he’s fired without cause.
Firing either coordinator is going to cost them too as each guy is under contract for next season as well.

I think it’s noteworthy that we pursued their cornerbacks coach for as long as we did. One, we were really tryna plant the U in SoCal. Second, Mario’s know-how of their athletic department’s finances could have given him the confidence that Oregon would have to significantly raise Wadood’s salary and possibly give him a second guaranteed year; otherwise, he’d be a fool to stay because of our top-shelf offer. He may have even been surprised that they actually ended up doing so.

Despite being Nike’s favored son and having a perceived endless financial advantage because of it, Oregon isn’t Texas or Ohio State when it comes to revenues; and they are cheap enough like UGA to sue players who transferred over 5 or 6 figures.

This is still the program who hired Lanning because their previous two HCs left em; and their all-pac-10 DB alum not too far away, Justin Wilcox, turned them down after going 5-7 in year 5, and 26-28 through those five years, at Cal-Berkeley. Not calling them broke but I don’t believe they spend like Texas Tech or A&M either. Wouldn’t be surprised if we find out Clemson is deeper pocketed than they are post-Dabo.

C’est la vie. Mario maintains a business is business approach so I wouldn’t be surprised if Wadood is hired before the decade is over.

App State beats Michigan in 2007. Former App State quarterback Scott Satterfield interviewed for the FIU OC job in 2008, after FIU OC James Coley took a job as FSU’s TE coach/recruiting coordinator; SS actually turned Mario down. He stayed at App State for one more season then he went to work at Toledo; that staff had four future p4 HCs.

Two years after the original interview, he left Toledo to become Mario’s OC for two seasons before returning to be App State’s OC. The current Arkansas OC was Mario’s last OC @ FIU.

Guy was ****ed at his teammates on the sideline. He played better in the second half, I’ll give him that, but it was a very low bar to start from. Seemed erratic and out of character but also gave off entitlement vibes.

In general, I don’t believe he deals with adversity well — whether it be poor receivers, pocket integrity collapsing, or having to play from behind ⏸️

Apparently Dante Moore had a melt down after that game and was a no show for the press conference.

I obviously didn’t want him to lose any games, however, I did do the video game lean in meme after seeing Izzy almost bring his team back to win the game a few weeks ago. That was his first high school loss, after twenty-five straight wins, and Dawson always talks about he wants to know how a quarterback feels when things aren’t working.

Throwing seven touchdowns with no interceptions in a comeback victory two weeks later is exactly the kind of performance that illustrates why Izzy is a five-star.

Dante on the other hand, is a kid who’s won while being a star quarterback from an extremely young age unlike Izzy, started right away on varsity as a freshman, more physically advanced than his peers, was always a blue-chip qb, flipped from Oregon to ucla after Kenny Dillingham went to Arizona state and Bo Nix announced he was returning for a fifth season so he could start as a true freshman, etc.

He wasn’t handed these things however the shelf he grabbed from was lower than Izzy’s or Cam’s or Burrow’s or Mensah’s.

Drew Mehringer will nearly double his existing salary after being promoted to be Oregon’s offensive coordinator and Chris Hampton is receiving a $500,000 raise in becoming defensive coordinator.

Each signed two-year contracts through the 2027-28 season in December, when their promotions were reported, and UO formally announced the moves Thursday. Hampton will earn $1.7 million annually and Mehringer will earn $1.4 million, according to their contracts which were released in response to a public records request by The Oregonian/OregonLive.
That’s up from what Hampton ($1.2 million) earned as UO’s secondary coach and Mehringer ($750,000) earned as tight ends coach, but less than former defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi ($2 million) and former offensive coordinator Will Stein ($1.75 million).

Hampton and Mehringer’s salaries are fully guaranteed and their buyouts to leave UO are 100% of their remaining salary if they were to do so prior to Aug. 1, 2026, 50% between then and Feb. 1, 2027, then 25% thereafter. Their buyouts are waived if they become an FBS or NFL head coach; Hampton’s is also waived if he becomes an NFL defensive coordinator with play-calling responsibilities and Mehringer’s is waived if he the sole offensive coordinator of an NFL team.

Their postseason bonuses remain the same.

I listened to their 247 guys podcast. They think there is a real culture issue in the locker room. They are concerned about the USC game in a couple of weeks...

Dakorian Moore posted his individual highlights immediately after they lost the game... Another player "liked" pics of Okie State celebration on Instagram..

Arch has some game to him. Gritty, smart, sneaky athletic… WRs did him no favors yesterday. If the hype wasn’t there (not his fault) he’d be considered nice.

Moore is just flat out overrated. High ceiling low floor.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think Arch SUCKS.... I just don't see a first round QB in him.
I do 🤷‍♂️
