Big facts. I don't understand how people can second guess Mario at this point. Of the guys Mario has signed out of high school very few are busts. I think Mario's talent evaluations are at the top of the sport.

In today's CFB, you aren't just going to sign 5star after 5star. Every school is looking for that diamond in the rough that isn't looking for a huge NIL package and understands that development takes time (meaning, they just dont run to the portal because they aren't getting much playing time). Im all for taking kids like this and Daylen Russell and letting them develop, hopefully, into a Ahmad Moten (a player who starts getting real PT by his junior year and solid contributor).

Our kids are big, strong, and athletic. But very very few have the motor that all our kids have had for 50, 60, 70 plays. For guys their size their VO2 must be unreal.

This kids seems to check that box off even in high school which is when move big kids can easily take plays off and get away with it.

If he's good enough to portal and play somewhere else, he might be good enough to come off the bench in injury relief etc. In this era we can't exactly stack the 3-deep with clear cant-miss P4 starters.

Saban took Terrance Mt. Cody when he was too fat to play here according to Randy Shannon. We see how that turned out.

The bye week was a work week, and the staff hit the road hard to recruit. Below is the latest on the Class of 2026:

Before we get into specific positions, I wanted to make a couple general points. First, the staff is placing a huge emphasis on evaluating senior film. Some guys are making jumps, others take step backs, some stay the same. These evaluations will be critical for the class. Keep that in mind as you read reports.

Second, Miami is pairing these evaluations with big-time recruiting battles. Miami is going to take big swings in high school and the Portal. My sense is that the...

And back in the day UM did the same thing with some guy named Russell Maryland. Too fat to play coming out of high school, wins a national championship, #1 overall pick in the draft and 3 time Super Bowl champ. Worked out OK for all parties
 
Any of the S. Fla people have insight to how this kid is progressing his SR. year?
Seems like the type of lottery ticket on the DL that pays big if it hits.

Around same era Butch and JJ nabbed some unknown DLman from Okeechobee HS who didn't
even play football his senior year. Speaking of Jimmie Jones, of course.

I always think about Jimmie Jones being good enough to start at UM, losing his starting spot after an injury because Kennedy and Maryland were just amazing, and then still being good enough to be drafted and winning Super Bowls with the Cowboys.

Butch and JJ on the same staff were a cheat code for talent evaluations.

hes playing against sh&t but you can see the huge upside...his movement at 280+ is really good. Kid is gonna be over 300 in no time and moving.

even being new to football its clear he has gotten some solid coaching in naples. He is a guy damione lewis would love cause this kid has no ad habits cause hes almost a blank canvass to work with.




This is who i hope his career arch to be like if we can hit on his development.
