After watching his highlights, which are extensive for a Dlineman, what are you seeing that makes you question his abilities? I don’t know what the verified height and weight are, and I never accept the listed numbers as accurate. But putting that aside, he seems to play very hard and strong. So assuming his height and weight are in the ball park of what is listed, what do you see that he is lacking.

I ask because I don’t think we should ever criticize, or praise, without stating our own reasons based on what we see with our own eyes. Not to say you are wrong in your criticism, but just asking for clarification to better understand it.

I don’t think his competition is good. I think he will eventually portal out to a team like FAU. His offer list is **** and he was just committed to FAU. He’s not going to play here. Not with Scott, Moten, Blount coming back and guys like Jones, Russell, and Simpson ready to contribute next year. Not to mention the other DL guys we will sign on this class and ‘27. He’s an FSU player not for us

If they add him they aren't going to push him out next year, they are going to let him develop. And since you think he's isn't all that good, then you should also assume he won't cost a lot of money. I really am not seeing the point you're making. Like look at Daylen Russell. This dude is absolutely built better than he was and Russell was viewed as a MAJOR developmental project, and Russell has already gotten some snaps - more than Jones and Newton at least. Maybe we can expect like 15+ snaps per game out of Russell next year, but that'd be year 3 in the program... Jones is going on year 2 and has like 2 snaps. But you know what if next year he's contributing, that's good as well, but that'd be in year 3 in the program as well. So If this dude contributes by year 3, then it was a good addition. We REALLY need DT depth developing.

I think we're overestimating the level of 'project' he'll likely be. Traditionally speaking, many DT's didn't start playing football until high school because they couldn't meet the weight limits of youth football leagues. I played with a guy in HS named Deadrin Senat who didn't start playing until he was a freshman. He was super raw but was a man child and learned fast before getting nationally recruited. He ended up killing it in college then spent several years in the league.
DT is one of the easier positions to learn, if you see a guy with Sainteus' frame and physical tools you absolutely take them. People that big, fast, and strong don't grow on trees.

With the new scholarship limit, taking developmental players is no different than taking preferred walking. This commitment will not stoop this staff from going after higher rated kids, although this kid could be a mid 4star in the end. I fully expect to see 1 or 2 more DTs added to this call.

Seems like the staff wants to take the same approach on defensive line as they have taken on offensive line. Load up with body types with traits and develop them.

Stashing players is a player by player situation. This team does have multiple “stashed away” redshirt sophomore and junior who are now contributing, look no further than Pancake, D. Brown, Kinsler, Moten, and McCoy.

A class of Anthony Kennedy 6-4 330, Frederic Sainteus 6-4 290, and Anthony Jones 6-4 275 and or James Johnson 6-3 285, would be an excellent DT class.

Also Moten is gone, in every offseason interview he speaks about this being his last season and how him and Coop came in together and they are leaving together. He is currently playing like a 3rd - 4th round draft pick, his ability to consistently get penetration (pause) from the interior will be highly coveted by NFL scouts and GMs. Also with him being a father, I can’t see a world where he does not declare for the draft.

Why do you believe he is not going to contribute? Have you watched him live? What in his highlight clips that you can point to, to say he is just not good enough?

What I see is a kid with a frame to be 6-4 310 by his RSO season. He looks to have power as he frequently generates knock back at the point of attack. He is athletic for his size and plays with a solid motor. He does get too high and allows blockers to get into his chest, but those things can be corrected with coaching.

It is still September and we are already arguing about who is a take and who is not a take for this program. So let us go through his timeline of events.

1. His first offer was this summer. He was offered by FAU on June 4th. At that point in time, he was not ranked by recruiting services, as this happened on July 28th, which is almost two months afterwards.

2. By the looks of it, he is a multi-sport-athlete. Wrestles and is a discus thrower. He did not play football apparently since the start of the sophomore season for a program that is not highly recognized because he immigrated from Haiti due to increased violence. Which means, in essence: The kid is green and has not played a lot of football.

Based on these two sets of information, we can safely say that this kid is a late starter to this sport and has just been recognized by recruiting services. As much as we can question his offer list, he was recently offered by Florida, Florida State and Michigan State. I would argue that this is a tremendous development for a kid who received his first actual offer almost four months ago.

Not to mention, because this is a new thing and people tend to forget: We have new scholarship limits. 105 players in this program can participate on the basis of a scholarship. Do I take this kid on a scholarship over a walk-on? Yep.

Now, the big question: Is he a take overall? How about the following response: We do not know. It has been mentioned too often to count that not every offer is a commitable offer and not every commitment is binding. Kids get dropped from their commitment all the time because other players who are higher on the board are ready to commit. This kid has just started playing football, has transferred to a new school and is still in the process of learning and developing basic technique whilst already showing up on tape.

So, instead of saying that this kid should not be taken (in September, mind you), let him enjoy his final season as a high school player and we will decide later on whether he is good enough or not.
