With the lost of both McIntosh and Norton, what are your thoughts on Diaz potentially changing the defensive scheme to mask the lack of experience and depth at the DT position? Maybe trying to run a 3-4 instead of the base 4-3 that we are accustomed to. I know that puts stress on our LB's but they have experience and numbers.

Pretty sure we should just go back to D'Nofrio's D. No hope. Barren landscape. All is lost.

Reasonable thought, but I think that causes more problems than it solves. Who would be the 4th linebacker you'd want on the field, and would they help you more than the 4th lineman? Are the linbackers we have suited to the tasks presented by a 3-4? Generally, the 3-4 requires larger defensive lineman than a 4-3, so if we're short on tackles, why would we want to use the scheme that calls for 3 300 pounders on the line?

I don’t think we will see a big drop off at DT

2017
McIntosh
Norton
Moten
Bethel

2018
Willis
Ford
Nesta
Bethel

Nesta is better than moten

2018 Bethel is better than 2017 bethel

Willis on par with McIntosh

Comes down to Norton vs Ford

We have our entire back 7 coming back, plus most of the 2 deep, including some possible talented frosh. Folk act like we're in total rebuilding mode on D, lol. I think the D-line might produce better Stats next year than this year.

Our D will be better for sure .

If the idea is to have the best four DL on the field while living in the opposing backfield, then what about this:

WDE Garvin / Patchan

WDT Djack / Ford

SDT Willis / Silvera

SDE J. Jackson / Bethel

Good point OrdunaDrive. I'm not sure who the 4th LB'er would be. It appears that Diaz has been recruiting LB'ers for the 4-3 scheme so maybe they wouldn't be a good fit for the 3-4. Just throwing out different options that could possibly address this DT situation that we have. Hopefully all will be well with recruiting down the home stretch its addressed with additional players that are ready to contribute immediately.

Olb- Joe Jackson

Mlb- Pinckney
Olb- Garvin

Should be noted I’m not advocating one bit we should switch.

As much as I think Manny is an avg D-Coord, switching to a 3-4 makes a solutely no sense if you understand the two schemes and what the front 7 players are expected to do individually within them. We don't have the players to run it even if we wanted to.

Rather than changing the defensive scheme, Miami should change da way it targets and recruits DTs.
