I agree we need to win some of these high school DT battles. And that portal talent at DT is questionable. But Davis and Carter were very good adds. Don’t count them out as developing into special players in their own right. We also brought in a lot of talent in 2026. Coaches know what they’re doing.

Exactly we loading up on the 3 stars it’s
Clear that they don’t feel they can land the whales so just load up on the 3 stars and play a numbers game and hope 1-2 hit

what 3 stars are we 'loading up on'?
theres too many look at the DT recruits since scott
pretty much all 3 stars
you can go ahead and point at stancil as a "whale" but i still dont think he is
a whale is a 5 star in my opinion
but there is no denying we loading up numbers just hope we got enough that 1-2 hit

do people realize that Keshawn Stencil was a pretty highly regarded 4 star? consensus top 250 player in nation. I know hes not a five star but hes was coveted.
He ain’t no Justin Scott
He isn’t like this dude
Stancil is good may even turn out great
But from a prospect stand point still a big gap between 5 star dts and top 250 players

2026 NFL Draft had one first round DT and that was five-star Peter Woods from Clemson going 29th.

Day 2 picks Kayden McDonald, Christian Miller, Lee Hunter, Chris McClellan, Albert Regis were all four stars. Day 2 picks Tyler Onyedim and Domonique Orange were three star recruits.

Fourth round pick Gracen Halton was a four star recruit committed to Mario then flipped to OU when Mario went to Miami. Five star recruit LT Overton went in the fourth round. Three star recruit Darrell Jackson and unrated FCS player Kaleb Proctor were fourth rounders as well.

Amongst this top 4 rounds DT group; Transfers: LT Overton, Darrell Jackson (twice), McClellan, Onyedim (one year at A&M), & Hunter (twice; Auburn/UCF/TT).

Flips: Halton & Regis.

So, outta 12 DTs who went in the first four rounds, 16.7% of them flipped during their recruitments and 41.7% of them transferred at least once.

There were two five-star DTs drafted in the top 4 rounds (Overton and Woods) and two top 4 round DTs who transferred twice.

The NFL is obviously not the only way to measure college productivity as transfer Simeon Barrow made 1st team all-acc yet went undrafted; and Gerald Willis was a monster for us; and Norton and McIntosh were really good yet went in the fifth and seventh rounds respectively.

Man, Matt Campbell is a helluva evaluator / developer. Respect for being the guy to identify then develop both of the Day 2 three stars.
