Drew Mestemaker

I like Morris as well. He is a brilliant offensive mind and a proven QB coach and developer of QBs.

I think the thought process with those who you mentioned above that want him to come be our OC believe that since he has only been a head coach at below the P4 level, that he could come here and be AHC/OC/QB. He made 1.4 million this season at N Texas and we could possibly pay him up to 2M or maybe more(Mike Denbrock at ND makes 2.1 million). The thought is that coming here in that role would raise his profile and potentially make him a national name therefore giving him an opportunity at higher paying more prestigious head coaching positions than what he would have if he stayed at North Texas as head coach. It would also give him invaluable experience and a first hand look at running a big time P4 program.

It's not such a pipe dream when you think about it and could be a great move for him. There is precedent for a move like this and Mario has tried to do the same thing with Jason Candle, the HC at Toledo. I certainly don't think that it's likely to happen but it's at least an intriguing idea.

Morris coming here in the above role of AHC/Offense/QB with Mario taking more of a CEO role and focusing on Recruiting/Offensive Line/Program Infrastructure with Corey Hetherman at DC would be such a savage move and would put us back in the role of being innovators.

Then I woke up!(Hey! A guy can dream can't he?)
Hey man to your point crazier **** has happened

And money talks

I tell ya what…if Eric Morris is our next OC I will be telling ALL the lies about winning #6

I’d be benching every **** day

I watch him for 2 games this year, and both were impressing. I didnt know who he was the first game I watched but he threw for like 330 against South florida, had 2 touchdowns and 3 picks, second game I watched was against Charlotte when he threw for 608 and 4 touchdowns, I think the kid is good and would fit Dawson's offense, also all 4 of his Int's came in 2 games this season, 3 vs South Florida, and 1 against charlotte, other that those 2 games he hasnt thrown any INT's. 3,000 pass yards 24 TDs, 4Int's, also 4 rush TDs in 10 games

Every quarterback has a bad game now and then but his calling card is accuracy and that’s what we need
Very true. Unfortunately, it’s the only game I’ve seen. Heard the hype & eager seeing him against a quality opponent we’d played. Again, only one game, but fell far short of the hype.

I watched him against South Florida and he looked every bit the unranked recruit he was.

He was under a lot pressure that game, he took too many chances which true freshmans tend to do, he didnt look any worse than Beck against Louisville and SMU.

Morris will get any job he wants that Lane doesn't want, and I would bet a ton Mestemaker follows him. Similar no chance vibes about JKS.

Begging the board to focus on guys who actually could transfer here but also can complete a forward pass. Really just begging the board to talk about the vacuum man Hoover.

His name hasn’t been mentioned with any of the big jobs out there

He was unimpressive vs. South Florida & Charlotte is an absolute joke, so only served to inflate numbers & rev up the hype.

I mean most QBs look unimpressive under massive amounts of pressure, but did you actually watch the game?

Yeah he holds the ball too long and has thrown picks forcing the ball downfield trying to keep TCU in games against teams that are better than they are. He seems fixable to me. Great arm talent and throws a beautiful ball.

I'd take JKS and Mestemaker over him, but they're pipe dreams.

The only qb that has thrown for more yards this season against usf has been Beck.

And they both threw for over 300 yards. And call me crazy but we might have a better oline than north Texas.
Probably a better running game too.

He played that game with a usf defense going after him all game long because they could.

I don’t disagree. It’d clearly all translate well to here. No projection needed.

Stats are nice, but not signing off because of numbers. Glad you like him.

Agree, everything you just said. There’s a great ESPN article about Morris and his Qb’s. It had Sugar Plum fairies dancing in my head thinking of the possibility of Morris coming here. We can dream right?

Glad you woke up from that dream cause NO legit OC is coming here with Mario/Mirabal offensive meddling
