Drew Mestemaker

If Mestemaker jumped in the Portal as a true free agent, he'd be the talk of the town. He's a legitimate talent with real NFL tools, just like their freshman RB Caleb Hawkins.

The key is the North Texas head coach, Eric Morris. He's going to be a hot commodity. If he gets a job like Oklahoma State, he might take his guys with him. But if they hit the market, they'll be able to play at the highest levels of P4.
Miami fans talking about Morris like he should come here to be OC or QB coach shouldn’t be allowed to post about football

If Mario retired tomorrow I’d be taking a look at him for our HC job so yeah definitely interested to see how his offseason plays out

Just going on what other guys have just said. But all these kids have things to work on, to improve. The only guru I saw ready to play out of HS was Peyton, and even he had major room for improvement. But did you miss my point about coaching, while you’re trying hard to defend your post on this kid. A great post I’ll add, but lighten that S**t up a little.
All I said is “how is he flawed”.
I mean, how much lighter do you want me to be. I’ll add please and thank you to it next time.
Idk if bringing in a qb coach adds anything to it. I see it as more spoons in the soup. If anything the oc is the most important thing to optimize any qb’s talent.
I’m in the camp that skill players either have it or they don’t. That’s why talent will stick out as soon as they start practicing. Can you polish a players skill a bit? Absolutely. But nobody is making chicken salad out of chicken sht.

I mean Dawson hasn’t been there that long to develop. He’s signed 2 QBs so far which were Nickel who is a true freshman and Judd who is also a freshman still and was always a huge project and long shot to ever start imo
Agreed, but those are a few reasons to bring in a QB coach.

Have to assume you wouldn’t recruit chicken sh*t from the get go. But point well taken. Polishing skills, yeah. Correcting bad habits a bigger yeah. Optimizing footwork and ball release, yeah that too. Kids come to play, get developed and if good enough get national exposure ,.. and oh yeah the money.

Problem is he has little history against legit P5 competition. That alone doesn’t mean he won’t succeed (Cam Ward) but there is a big risk in not knowing what you’re getting. Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.

He's no CJ Bailey, that's for sure.

If Morris goes to OKst, that's actually imo not the type of program I'd automatically see Mestemaker following him to. That seems like a MAJOR rebuild with legit zero funding. Though he could be loyal to Morris obviously...

JKS would be my #1 right now. Mestemaker probably #2 out of 2yr guys.

But if we are going for a high floor 1yr guy I'm hoping it's someone who is great off schedule and at making **** happen late in plays BUT also has a low INT%. If Sorsby is a "playmaker" he's probably the perfect target. Has extremely low negative play rate (low int%, twp%, AND P2S%). But generally he hasn't had a huh explosive play rate. I mean at worst I'd think he's on par with Beck tbh, but idk how good he really is off schedule... If he's good in that department I'd just say go all in on him asap tbh.

Throwing mechanics… watch the USF game. It will take a lot of luster off of him unless your his family or desperate

I’d honestly take Bailey over him
I’m not family and don’t have a vested interest in his success except for my horrible cis reputation.
Just watched the first half and I have no idea what tf your talking about mechanics. Dude can straight sling it and his oline was getting g pushed around. Also, the dude that recruited him also recruited mahomes. A qb that 30 years ago would’ve been crucified for sidearm mechanics.

Did y'all not watch the USF game??

OH did I ever and I was getting ripped on here because he had 3 INTs and 2 TDs, plus one running TD. Go watch him pass and the kid may have the strongest arm in the college ranks. Throws 15 yard outs like a lazer beam. He reads defenses well for a RS Freshman. He has a 70+yard run. He has also only started 10-11 games in his life SO... I'd rather have another experienced kid over him like the Duke QB but I wouldn't hate this kid at Miami one bit.

If you liked the Louisville game with beck you'll probably see at least two of those with him next year.

Step up in competition and seeing more taller dline who know they can bat the ball down at minimum… if he’s cheap sure might be worth it when we can reallocate funds to a premium pass rusher to pair with Lightfoot and plug and play LB to play with Wiley & popo.

Saw him live only once vs USF and wasn’t impressed…not knocking him, gotta see more.

He had three interceptions vs USF in a high-leverage game, their only loss of the season. They still have a chance to get to the CFP. I think he's a take, but he's a year or two from elite QB play in a P5 conference. Accuracy check, arm strength check, decision-making in high-leverage games TBD.

Did you see some of cam wards games at wasu? Fumbling and throwing pics?

Context my man. USF is a damm good team and north Texas is dog water and is only where they are now because of him.
