Reckon that Bo Schembechler had any knowledge of the criminal behavior of Dr. Robert Anderson, a physician who was employed in the University of Michigan athletic department from 1968 until his retirement in 1998?

From Wikipedia:

"During his long career with the University of Michigan, Anderson sexually assaulted and raped patients during medical examinations, subjecting them to unnecessary genital and rectal examinations. Although he occasionally sexually assaulted female patients, 90% of his victims were male (while) 40% of his victims were black ... Anderson was widely known for sexually abusing patients among Michigan staff and athletes, earning nicknames such as "Dr. Drop Your Drawers Anderson"
Bo’s players didn’t run Ann Arbor the way Joe’s players ran Happy Valley. I grew up in Ann Arbor and the football players were very well behaved. Frankly to the point of being boring.
Now the basketball players under Bill Frieder and Steve Fisher had more “financial” freedom. But the football players were pretty straight.

Team doctor? Seems like a Big Ten mandate that team doctors fondle their patients/players.
And I’m confident Bo knew something was going on with the doctor. I know a few guys who played during that time and the players all knew and did everything possible to avoid seeing him. So to think the players knew but not a hyper-controlling head coach like Bo completely strains belief.
But like Joe Pa and so many men from that generation, I think they sincerely did not want to believe that any man who worked for them would do this. So they lived in intentional ignorance. Which is clearly no defense.

To clarify, I was referencing Schembechler's legacy at Michigan as the man "who ran U of M athletics" and thus could be seen being at least partially responsible for the actions of a team doctor who sexually assaulted athletes — including some of Schembechler's football players — during Anderson's three decades as a fairly prominent University of Michigan employee.

Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State. Anyone see a trend here?

Let us not forget the Michigan team doctor's kindred spirit in Columbus aka Dr. Richard Strauss, an Ohio State Buckeyes athletic department physician from 1978-1998.

Again, from Wikipedia:

"By 1979, athletics department officials knew that Strauss conducted unusually prolonged genital examinations on male athletes, and that athletics staff were not permitted to be present during these examinations. In addition, Strauss was known to shower alongside male students at Larkins Hall, a behavior which was unique to Strauss among team physicians. Between 1979 and 1996, multiple students complained about Strauss's excessive and unnecessary genital examinations, but no action was taken by OSU until January 1996, when he was placed on administrative leave in response to patient complaints.

After a closed-door hearing on June 5, 1996, Strauss was terminated from his position with the Athletics Department at the end of July 1996, and terminated from Student Health on August 5, 1996. However, Strauss opened a private off-campus clinic and continued to abuse male patients there. Former employees of the off-campus Men's Clinics of America recalled Strauss placing advertisements in the student newspaper promising student discounts and prompt treatment of genital issues. He also continued as a tenured faculty member in the School of Public Health until his voluntary retirement on March 1, 1998, upon which he gained emeritus status."

Calling it a “town” is a stretch. I grew up near there in PA and went to PSU for a bit (not the actual campus but a local satellite campus). People throw around “middle of nowhere” a lot but it really is. Theres literally nothing there.

Confirmed. Went there for the 2001 game and it was in the middle of NOWHERE.

Schembechler deserves any derision that is to come his way for what happened under his stewardship as the head coach AD at Michigan with their team doctor. There is no excuse for allowing what he did.

When I made the initial comparison to PSU it was as to the actions of the athletes.

I’ll be honest this is the type of efficiency I like from my qb. She entered his DM’s and he was quick with his decision making , very decisive. He has very little time and so many mouth’s being the qb at a big power 4 school . On top of that he was faced with a problem when trying to get the ******** picture and instantly went into problem solving mode . This is the type of intangibles Gm’s are looking for.

Him knowing specifically how to take a spread buttcheeks photo by himself is such a Penn State thing
This is by far a 100% underrated response. Winner, winner chicken dinner. And you get the Jerry Sandusky trophy.😹
