2024 Drelon Miller

The foundation of UGA's squad the last two years when they had Stetson Bennett starting was based on this:

2019 (2nd overall class with 9 players in the Top 100) - 5 5*'s, 16 4*'s, 3 3*'s
2020 (1st overall class with 11 players in the Top 100) - 4 5*'s, 15 4*'s, 6 3*'s

Nine 5* commits in a two-year span, four of whom became 1st-round picks. They signed fewer 3* commits from 2019-2020 than we currently have committed in our 2024 class. If you're recruiting at the level of God mode everywhere else, then you can win it all with an overachieving game manager at QB.

And even a defense as vaunted as UGA's gave up 40+ points in the 2021 SEC Title Game when Bama had Bryce Young with Williams/Metchie at WR and 40+ in the 2022 CFB semifinal when OSU had Stroud with Harrison Jr./Egbuka at WR. That's how important it is to land elite QB's and WR's, which is why UGA threw the bag at #1 overall recruit Dylan Raiola and will have three former blue-chip QB recruits fighting to replace Bennett this summer.

Why aren't they devoting their vast resources elsewhere after they won so much with Bennett at QB? Because they saw what happened when their #1 defense faced elite QB's and WR's, so they're trying to prolong their run and turn it into a dynasty.
One thing to add and that is Bennett was way more than a game manager last year. Exhibit A is the game against Taint. Taint brought the ruckus against that vaunted defense and Bennett straight made play after play to keep them in it and then pulled a Dorsey like drive against them late in the game making big time throws. Hopefully Emory is Bennett, but that kid ended up being an unheralded player that could play at the college level. Bottom line is that the trenches are super important but QBs and WRs are what is driving the game the last 5 years.

This whole “he was a game manager” stuff is straight up BS. He beat out five stars and balled out the bigger the game. Just because he was a walk on doesn’t mean he wasn’t a dude. He was a very good college passer that was an underrated runner: On top of that the players loved him and played for him. He’s going to be a bigger loss than some think.

Loss of him plus addition of Bobo.

When he was first brought up in this thread, Bennett was referred to as a postal worker. So, yeah, calling him a game manager is selling him short but so was the initial reference to him in this thread that was used as a rebuttal to the importance of landing a premier QB recruit at least once in a two-year span at minimum.

Incorrect.

Vs FBS competition, A&M averaged 22.0 PPG

Miami averaged 19.4 PPG.

A&M was 97th in the country in scoring offense, Miami was 113th.
Now go back this time last year and tell me that on paper **** to mouth doesn’t make a New Year’s Day bowl.

That squad in paper was and is stacked compared to us. And they also have a coach who has won a natty.

Everyone in here acting like they know the exact reason why we are recruiting the way we are without knowing squat about what the plan is.

Mario went into Columbus with a squad nowhere near as talented on paper as osu.
And jimbo continues to leak through his depends and all on his sleep number mattress.

What the school is doing and who is driving the bus is way more important than some elite 11 stud that hasn’t played one game of cfb.

Everyone in here traumatized FR. Do you know how many receivers have been drafted that didn’t play college ball with a 5 star or draftable qb?
Berries is still collecting checks krist sakes.

Go ask any air raid coach if it’s important to run the ball.

Mario went 4 plays from the 2 against mtsu and actually got pushed back and turned it over on downs.

You guys are focusing on this passing sht and not realizing that the problem with this team was the **** trenches.
I never played this **** game and I come on here and wonder what tf you guys are watching.

Unc and fsu slapped us around like lil btches and walked through our dline.
Do you want to be a db and know that you’re gonna have to constantly rescue your dline?

This goes back years. I sat there and watched us struggle against the **** chipmunks with shark fckr and then not move the ball for an entire half against Georgia southern.

That is way way way more of a **** problem than Judd Anderson rk and as a qb and receiver that sht is scary AF.
And shows that Judd has more cojones and faith in this coach than a lot of you.
Maybe you missed that Judd was invited to and threw privately for Uga’s staff.

But Mario Cristobal and his alleged “physical bro” bull sht that keep’s permeating this place isn’t the problem it’s actually the solution.

Let’s revisit this sht in December. Cause it ain’t even close to being over.

Bennett completed 68% of his passes for 4128 yards with a 27/7 ratio. That would have been the best passing season in Miami history.

He was absolutely fantastic as a player. I wasn't saying anything to the contrary. He was **** good for them the past 2 years.

I meant as a recruit. QB is the one position where IMO you don't have to recruit at the absolute highest level because it's so hard to project. Sure, getting Bryce Young is awesome and makes winning a **** of a lot easier. But it's been proven you can have an elite program without absolute top end QB recruits. It's also been proven you cannot have an elite program if you don't recruit top end overall classes.

Yeah, I want my cake and want to eat it too. But IMO bringing in 5-star QBs isn't a must. If you give me a choice, yes, sign them up. But you're not UGA or Bama without 5-star DL, WR, corners, etc. You can be them without 5-star QBs, as evidenced by the guy who has 2 rings in Athens (but no diploma).
