Draft projection for our d-lineman

Ok, if this is the consensus both guys should stay as both have 1st/2nd round potential IMO.

None of our draft worthy D linemans look as dominant as I had hoped. Not saying they are playing bad, just wanted to see more. As of now, here is what I would guess -

Norton- looks like the highest pick to me based on his play and body right now. When I am not watching for a specific player, he seems to be the most disruptive. I could not see higher than late 3rd at this point without a pretty stellar second half of the season, not sure if he is even considered top 10 at his position nationally and would guess mid 4th.

Thomas - His sack numbers are lacking. His total production is lacking. Say whatever you want, draws double teams, gets held, whatever, he simply is not around the football enough considering his physical attributes and praise coming out of high school. Watch out if he puts up a decent 40 time though. He still has great length, and if he shows the athleticism he looks to have, I could see a team taking him much earlier on potential. 4-6, but that could jump significantly with a good combine.

Mcintosh - Looks like an NFL player, but not impactful enough to be taken in the first 4 rounds currently. Seems to disappear when I am not watching him specifically. That said, may have the longest NFL career of the current DL based on combination of size and athletecism. Mid 5th-7th.

Harris does not strike me as an NFL player due to his skill set and size. If he was bigger I could see a pass rush specialist, if he was faster I could see a transition to LB. UDFA.

Norton will be the highest picked of those guys if he leaves. I bet he comes back though.

Last year at this time I don't even think Njoku was projected to be drafted at all....then he blew up in November. As of now, I can maybe see McIntosh leaving but Norton hasn't done anything to warrant an early exit.

People sleep on Harris.

Bro I totally agree. I could see Trent having a long NFL career. He is a really good football player who makes s lot of plays and has kept some pretty good dudes on the bunch longer than most of us thought he would. I could see him sticking for a solid ten+ yr career.

The biggest recruiting job of the Mark Richt era is to convince McIntosh and Norton to come back for 2018. We would be completely loaded

That would be nice:

Norton
McIntosh
Jackson
Willis
DJack
Bethel
Garvin
Ford
Johnson
Silvera
Rousseau
Patchan
Fines
Martin

Norton is our best eligible pro prospect on the team. Does that mean he ends up getting drafted that way? Not necessarily, but in terms of pure physical tools at a premium position without a length injury history, he is.

It's a mistake for McIntosh to leave in my view. He's a third day guy right now with the chance of getting to second day if he adds weight and strength.

Walton probably goes in the 4th round range, though testing could get him up into the third. It's a loaded RB class.

Trent Harris might get drafted 7th round area. I love him as a player, but he's a backup pro most likely.

Demetrius Jackson is a run stuffing end and most likely gets into a camp.

Thomas gets drafted on the third day, and I'm not nearly as high on him for the NFL as I am the younger players on our line. I also think his love of music will hurt him in the eyes of the NFL.

We are probably two years away from Richt recruiting classes from really being a Miami team depth wise and the only player I would tell to leave early would be Walton.

That's purely from a maximizing resources standpoint. I don't begrudge anyone who wants to get into the league and start working towards that second contract. The reality is that most never get to it and that money from the first contract needs to be fully maximized while you can- even if it takes an extra year.

Based on what they've done so far:

McIntosh- 2nd
Norton- 3rd
Chad- mid to late 4th
Harris- 6th-UDFA

McIntosh is the most versatile as he'll get looks at both DT in a 4-3 or DE in a 3-4. Norton isn't dominant but is strong at the POA and is an overall decent player. Chad has improved but still needs to finish; I think that will knock down his stock a bit. Like DMoney said, Harris plays his role just fine here but will most likely be a journeyman in the NFL. Has a nice get-off but that's only going to get you so far in the league especially if you don't have the strength to go with it. His ceiling imo is maybe a Rob Ninkovich.

Norton has played really well the last two games. I see him having a good end to the year. I really hope him and McIntosh stay. I see him as a 3rd rounder right now.

Chad is going to have a great pro career I think, even if he never puts up big stats. Extremely verstaile and blows up plays. 3rd to 4th rounder,

The best pro prospect is obviously Jackson who can be a top 10 pick in two yrs.

I think Chad gets dogged on here for not getting sacks, but he blows up a ton of plays by disrupting the line, and a lot of other guys then get the sacks / TFL. Will show up on tape.

I think we'll be pretty loaded if even one of them stays.

Agreed, but next year we have a legit chance at a natty if both come back. We would roll out a two deep of Norton, McIntosh, Willis, Bethel with Ford and Nasty Nesta off the bench. DJax, JJ, DJ and Garvin on the ends. All 3 linebackers. Entire back end (minus Delaney) with the elite secondary class we are pulling. That's a final four defense.

Football is a very tough and demanding grind. Both players (Norton & McIntosh)will opt for the draft and get paid.

Would you please change your font to something bigger and more colorful?
