SMDH… **** kid. You got some really bad advice.

It’s not the What or Why, but it’s usually the How or When that does you in.

Should have handled this much better.

Nowdays every year is renegotiations with every player.

Fair.
But there is a time and place for this, no?
I've seen interviews with several head coaches claiming their players asking for renegotiated contracts in the middle of the season after having put together several good games.
Middle of the season.
Ridiculous.

at all, thats where this whole process has become broken..

How is that broken though? Kid thinks he’s worth X, staff thinks he’s worth <X. They’re now constructing multi year contracts with buyouts and upside. That’s capitalism. Coaches can do it why can’t the players?

Poor choice by Simpson. Everything I read here on this board says he should be in the competition for the rotation next year. Obviously, the first three will be Justin Scott, Armando Blount, and hopefully Moten. I’m not sure what the story is with Blay. Is he playing or is he injured? To be honest I don’t pay close attention to the snap counts. Rare is the defensive tackle that walks in and starts as a true freshman. Justin Scott was a five star elite player and it took him a season and a half to get going.

I would tell the kid “we’re close to playing a national championship game without you”.

Now, I know he’s played a little bit and participated in practice. Likely played a key role on the scout team. I don’t want to diminish what he has provided, but Miami has that “next man up” mentality and will just go find somebody else.

If he wants more playing time, he needs to go earn it. Take somebody’s job.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but Miami could very well be on the verge of a multi-year CFP run. Why would you leave that team for a couple bucks only to watch on television?
