I know a couple very legitimate agents — both lawyers — who have represented at times many high profile kids. They hate the business because many times they will do tons of work for kids, conduct themselves with integrity when dealing with collectives, only to have a “family member” interfere and fire them after deals were negotiated and promises made. One such early example was Rashada. Everyone from the family and the street are in these guys’ ears. It’s a **** show.

And when the school pushes back to actually enforce the agreement, the kid/family/streets play the “woes me, ignorance card”

I’m glad Miami was proactive in the early days to put together some thoughtful language and procedures, to as best as possible minimize the ambiguity in an ambiguous landscape

Where is all of this energy for Brock Schott?

I feel the same way but his thread didn’t get transferred over here. Anyways, the major differences

1. Luka Gilbert has a couple catches this year. Schott has none

2. Our TE usage dropped off considerably this year from where it was last year

3. Simpson played more than Schott

4. Simpson is a homegrown talent & appears to be better than his recruiting ranking

5. Good young DTs are harder to find than good young TEs

6. Schott has more schools after him outta HS

7. Idk if we even have another player from the state of Indiana. Simpson has HS teammates on the roster with him & from a program w/ a legacy of producing ‘Canes

There is more intrigue to who will land Simpson.

Schott just got a crystal ball to IU; his home state’s program. That’s a comparable program. No harm no foul because

8. We just landed two major blue chip tight ends. Brock leaving actually helps them get more reps earlier on; both in game and in practice.

We got a lot of dlinemen but was feeling good about having Simpson back next year.

Good looks could’ve sworn he never caught any. Anyways, yeah i ain’t stressing him as much as i was when he first announced but Simpson seems like a bigger deal at this point. We’ll see

I'd prefer not to have a player who quit on his team for his own self interests during a playoff run. But do you.

I too would prefer players to act in my interest as a fan instead of their interest as a player trying to maximize his value. But I am also not unrealistic.

I get the base of your point that he probably got a very small NIL but when your on campus and your competing with 1000s of transfers you need to at this point show production. Bad advice yeah get a nice 10-15k bump whatever it was but stay grinding like the dude in front of you moten. Was kinda hanging around last year and then this year he shows hes probably getting drafted and we need to pay him to stay

I think you are right and if he goes somewhere worse for a little bit more money, then the decision seems shortsighted. If he is going fishing for offers without real interest, I think that is dumb. We don't know how much money he is being offered and we don't know what schools are offering and we don't know what our reup offer is.

I do think he will get developed here better than other places, but we also aren't the only place developing DTs. Not gonna jump all over a kid just because I am a fan of Miami.

The issue he did this why still in the playoffs . He is like one injury from playing and Imo he fcked us over greed . He can kick rocks, he shouldn’t be allowed back
