Very surprised by this. Was the knock on him as a recruit maybe that he was supposedly younger than your average HS Sr?

A lot more talent on the DL this year compared to last

Hopefully we see a huge increase in havoc
Moten Scott mesidor and Bain a year older. Guys like Cole and lightfoot waiting in the wings. Simpson a possible contributor at around 300lbs. Blay a veteran. Lowe a potential legit star down the road. There’s guys here

This is typical of CIS.

Hype up a recruit, who if you go by the history of highly touted freshmens DTs, have very limited playing snaps their frosh year, and then spend the rest of the season talking **** about how they didn’t perform their freshman year.

Slow your ******* roll and let him develop.

Sure, we all hope he is in the extreme minority of freshmens DT’s who have immediate significant impact, but that’s usually not the case even with the best.

I mean…Is he gonna play more than 8-10 snaps a game? Seems like a reach to me but who knows.

Not important at this time and glad early reports are good on the kid regardless of this.
This is where I'm at. Cool achievement but is this kid gonna get any reps this year?

In CIS defense, this is not hyping up a greentree AA. This is the major ranking service putting the list out. I candidly was shocked to see him on it. He got some decent practice reports here and there were some murmurs about him perhaps being a diamond in the rough, but nothing like he was taking over DT1.

I am interested in how On3 got their info? 80% of the kids on that list are 5* or very highly ranked, they seem like the low hanging fruit for guessing AA. So someone is high on him to rank him over every other frosh DT.

To your point yes lets not run wild with this, he obviously needs time and no one wants to rely on a TF DT.

fair points, however how many of the hyped recruits received frosh all american honors prior to the season? all most as if other people who are not miami affiliated saw simpson and saw the same potential the miami staff saw so much to point that they suggested him as a frosh all american before ever playing a snap

I don’t feel any kind of way about ON3’s AA list, I never pay attention to these preseason rankings anyway, especially when it comes to freshman that have never played a snap. I mean, I’m happy for him and his family that’s something to put in their scrapbook, and good for him, but it has no impact on how I think he will or won’t perform.

I’m more referring to a theme running through the comments which imply he should beast his freshman year. That is extremely extremely rare for a freshman defensive tackle, no matter how highly they are rated. And especially with him, who is a young enrollee, even as a freshman. I just think you have to give these guys time to develop.
