Don't understand 90% of you

Why is it that people seem to think that fans being retards to kids and the team sucking aren't mutually exclusive reasons why someone choses to not come here. Both seriously affect things.

I never heard the fans negativity excuse in 2010. What changed?

Social media exploding obviously. Pretty simple.

Fans have instant access to recruits more than ever now. And if you don't think a kid on the fence checking his mentions and seeing home fans telling him the school sucks and not to come here doesn't have negative consequences, you're just being delusional.

Again. The coaching staff, the teams record and fans negativity are not mutually exclusive reasons, despite how much people here want to make it seem.

We've had the same access since 2010. Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, all have been around since then. You're just not accepting the fact that he doesn't want to play for a coach who is going to win 8 game at max a season when there are better opportunities out there.

It's not even remotely the same as 2010. Twitter is what nearly ten times larger than it was in 2010, Facebook doubled in size.

If you think a 16-18 year old kid isn't influenced by what he's reading on the internet and social media especially, you're either too old or to naive to understand the way the world is now.

People are projecting. The ones blaming the fans are the same soft individuals who'd shy away from a school due to people being meanies. But what they don't realize is that the South Florida D1 athlete isn't as female-shouldered as they are and simply wants to go to the program that will put them in the best position to succeed both while in college and beyond. Nobody is going to sacrifice what they view as their best chance at success simply because fans are mean. And anyone who truly believes they would has a few screws loose.

At the end of the day, we've ALWAYS had poor attendance and lacked the fan support that other marquee programs enjoy. That never held us back in the past, because we had other things to sell. We no longer do.

Right on.

It's particularly funny to see the even-handed classy faqqots on here trying to apportion fault between the fans and UM.

Stupid faqqots in their never-ending quest to be evolved and above the fray always feel like they need to find that grey area of supreme lucidity where only guys in top hats and spats reside.

You want to apportion fault between UM and the fans, you stupid fcking faqqots? Let a real scientist of the law break it down for you. Here it is: UM 100% at fault; UM fans 0% at fault.

The fans caused none of this ****. We're merely reacting to a disaster that UM caused and refuses to fix.

UM held the keys. They decided to fight the fans instead of fixing the program, and they'll continue to lose that battle.

A small collection of dimwits and trust fund weasels at UM can't win a fight against what is left of the real rabid UM fan base. We care way more about the program than they do, and we've got the numbers.

UM could have fixed the program. Instead, they ****ed in the fans' faces and just assumed we'd go along with it and forget what a disaster our program is. They underestimated the fans' determination and overestimated Folden's worth.

The continued toxicity around the program, which is only going to grow worse by the way, is all UM's fault. Imagine the positivity and hope that would be surrounding the program right now if they had done the right thing and fired the obvious failure and replaced him with Butch Davis or some other huge upgrade.

The could have fired golden but we still wouldn't sell out a game. Couldn't fill up the OB weekly during the 01 season. Not gonna happen now.

Great non-point. Inability to fill up an 80k stadium never stopped us from winning NCs.

Challenge yourself to think a little more deeply. It'll be great for you.

Great point. If the fans collectively started calling Folden a pterodactyl the recruits wouldn't believe it no matter how vociferous the fans were. They'd be thinking, "Folden isn't a pterodactyl; he's a piece of ****."

Let's be clear. Fans just didn't wake up one day and decide to harm UM football. This has been a consistent slide that began with right at the same time that donna shalala was hired and has continued on a consistently downward trend during her whole presidency.

Really?? Are you talking about some of these same So Florida D1 (D1VA) athletes who complain about coaches not paying enough attention to them in their sophomore and junior years? They don't need constant attention and don't care what others think? Please. How many times do you hear about hometown pressure? How many times do you hear about friends/family in their ears. Those are all fans! They read the boards. Some post. They might not base something specifically on fan reaction/opinion, but when it's wrapped together as a package deal with poor on field performance, lack of gameday atmosphere and mediocre coaching, it has an effect.

If it was all about the best position to succeed in college and beyond, Scarlett would have never committed to FAU and Quincy Wilson wouldn't have been so ****ed off at UM and continued to trash UM/coaches/fans on social media.

I've had Twitter and Facebook both since 2010 and "not even remotely the same" is hyping hard....stop exaggerating **** to fit your argument

Very true. And we all know there are several factors to it. However, a savvy recruiter might be able to convince him otherwise if the fanbase wasn't screaming the exact sentiments all over social media and the internet. In that respect, websites and fanbases can have a negative effect on recruiting....even if it is a very small part. Sometimes the negative feedback is warranted, but what is the limit that results in positive conclusion with minimal damage?

Yes, the lack of production on the field and the seemingly disjointed scheme and culture (at least in my opinion) play a much bigger role, but you need to look at thing holistically.

That's the aspect of this weak ***, pathetic pity party campaign that Golden started that REALLY gets me.

That fat ******* wants to blame the fans for all this going wrong now...but conveniently chooses not to touch the aspect that we're ****ed for a REASON. Three straight ****** coaching staffs, three straight extensions for those staffs, and then 3 instances of taking too long to fire those staffs.

Meanwhile...it equates to over a decade of mediocrity. But who the **** is counting right?

Of all the incompetent, pathetic things Golden and his slurpers have hung their hats on....this one takes the cake.

Yup. Would any recruit give a **** what fans said if Golden could point to big wins, ACC championships, and first round draft picks? No. Golden is a ****** recruiter because he has no credibility. It's an emperess has no clothes situation and the queen's guard is trying to make sure nobody talks about it, even though everybody knows.

Golden can't recruit because he has NOTHING TO SELL. If you were a recruit who didn't have a childhood allegiance to UM, and wasn't set on staying home, why would you come here? Seriously. Can anyone answer that? Why would anyone who is going to make a "business decision" choose UM?

you cant blame the fans for wanting change, this one is on the administration

Just stop it. You're a lame human being if you really believe not every recruit and their mom didn't have a twitter back then.

If anything, the recruits see that pathetic 6-7 record, no changes to the coaching staff, and an excuse filled coach. You're really a stupid person if you believe the primary reason why Miami is losing recruits is because the fan base is filled with a bunch of meanie heads.

Go on, make some exaggerated rebuttle to try to make yourself look good.

Except Golden isn't a "savvy recruiter," and the "fanbase" isn't the only group pointing out that, you know, Golden has ZERO results. Other coaches are. High school coaches are. Other college players are. And they matter infinitely more than what any message board poster says. He has NOTHING to sell. No matter how hard you try, you can't convince a kid that you didn't just go 6-7. That you haven't produced any first round draft picks at UM. That you haven't won a bowl game. That you haven't played in a big bowl game. That you haven't gotten blown out by middling teams.

Golden has been getting worked over in South Florida for years. Since 2012, he's landed one elite, elite South Florida recruit. That's it. He's lost many more. Matthew Thomas, Dalvin Cook, Jordan Scarlett, Ermon Lane, etc. And it's amplified this year because UM just had their worst season under Golden and players know he's full of **** and that you won't win **** if you come here.

His talking points have dried up by now. Any south Florida recruit knows he is full of ****. Golden is so full of himself and believes he and his Duff of a DCord are Namblas gift to football. He's failed at being a head coach. He has yet to win a big game and he isn't going to sniff the ACC. This program would be better off paying the full buyout and clean house. But they won't do that because Fake James is such a beta and accepts mediocrity. Just a bad situation all around.

This

And for anyone blaming the fans.... You are blind and ignorant. None of this would be happening if they just did the right thing and fire him. 4 years of this **** is not enough for you to see? It's a bull**** excuse by Al Golden.

If you support the status quo.... YOU are part of the problem. The product Golden trots out on the field every September through December is NOT Miami football.

"This is the new Miami" according to Donna.

Nobody would be outraged if they just fired the guy like any school who actually gives a crap about their Football Program would do. I have a hard time believing the people who support Golden even watched Miami in it's glory days.

Blaming it on the fans is a sorry excuse. These kids are not blind. "We're losing kids cause of the fans"

NO! We're losing kids in our backyard at a higher rate than ever before cause the product is crap. They are not blind, they're not going to walk straight into a ******* land mine of mediocrity.

We will never be "The U" again until we clean house and make major changes.

For the last 10 weeks most of you have trash Golden and company, to the point of flying banners and sending messages to recruits on twitter not to come to the U, etc. Now you don't understand why 18/19 year kids have seconds thoughts about going to Miami, are you kidding me ?? I love my Canes, but our fan base is total S###t.

Did you really just say "are you kiddin me?"

Nice troll job!
