And Away We Go - Miami, FSU, VT, and Clemson Have Reportedly Contacted The Big 12

The Texas Longhorns' Rivals affiliate, Orange Bloods, has posted a story that should get everyone's attention if you happen to cheer for the ACC. More specifically, if you happen to cheer for any of the four teams mentioned above. Read on to see what (allegedly) has happened.

Keep in mind that this is conference expansion. A game that everyone plays but not everyone actually wins, and in the meantime, no one outside of the Need To Know's has any clue what is going on. That being said, two sources have apparently said that Florida State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Miami have all reached out to the Big 12 informallyto try and gauge interest in expansion. That italicized word is important, because until there is official contact, this is all just puffery. At any rate, one of the sources apparently put the odds at expansion at "55 to 60 percent" and listed the targets as being headed by Notre Dame, followed by FSU, then Clemson, then VT and Miami. It appears as any news on expansion, if at all, would not come until late June once the proposed 4-team playoff structure is finalized. That will go a long way in determining whether the league expands at all, or goes to an 11, 12, or 14 team format.

What do you think of the possibility that the Big 12 tries to add the four "major" players from the ACC?

Adding just FSU & Clemson would be dumb. But adding the 4 best ACC teams would make more sense, because then you keep the Miami-FSU rivalry alive while adding a geographic partner for West Virginia in Virginia Tech.

You could split up divisions south & north

South:
Miami
FSU
Clemson
Texas
TCU
Texas Tech
Baylor

North:
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
Kansas
Kansas St
Iowa St
Virginia Tech
West Virginia

Texas will never let us in. They are still butthurt over the *** raping and throat cutting.

Jesus, that would be a beastly conference and we'd win about 4 games a year.

+1
That projected south division would be heart attack week in, week out. While that north would still be a 2 team race with OK, OK st. and VT coiming in 3rd winning 6 or 7 games on occasion depending on how many Marshall's and East Carolina's they schedule out of conference.

$20mil

Unless the ACC completely falls apart, then we don't have to pay ****.
if those 4 schools leave

the ACC is left with 2 basketball programs and a bunch of other dog ****

Not talking about how good or ****** the programs are. I mean the ACC has to dissolve. I believe if it falls under 8 teams, then we wouldn't have to pay. Which is why the Big East is always scrambling to fill up their slots when teams leave.

Unless someone is paying our way I don't see us paying 20 million dollars to leave the ACC.

We probably wouldn't have to pay it all. The Big12 loaned WVu a good chunk to pay their exit fee. But chances are, if all 4 teams leave at the same time, then the ACC would go into panic mode. SEC and B1G would probably look to deliver the final death blow as both conferences probably want in the states of Virginia and N. Carolina. The SEC especially wants those.

Well, judging by the report of FSU's deficit in their athletic department, they don't have it either. We actually do make money. Not $20mil a year, but we do make money. If they really want it, they'll find a way. Obviously, it wasn't meant for athletics, but Shalala has raised $1billion recently. That money would be easily recovered when we're making maybe in the $25-30million/year range.
