Don't kill the messenger. Word is, Golden gone by Monday.

Those that are getting their information about the situation from the Miami side are barking up the wrong tree. The admin/BOT insiders are going to tell you he is not being fired.

Miami is not going to fire him;however, they would gladly accept his resignation. Frankly, I think they expect him to resign. The guy is ****in miserable. Coaching is a 15 hour per day job. Hard to do that if you hate it.

The only logical conclusion is that Golden has not decided if he wants to come back. Monday is his own personal deadline for him to decide. I think Miami would gladly pay some of the buyout of Golden wants out. On the other hand, it's hard to leave a million bucks on the table when you know your next job in TV will pay much less.

Coaches don't quit and leave a bunch of money on the table.
They are not wired in this manner.
So please stop with the nonsense.

That's usually the case but Marrone did. So its not unprecedented.

He did not leave money on the table he is getting $4 million for next regardless if he coaches or not.

If Golden is smart he will negotiate his buyout so he can "step down." Sit out a year or two. Go coach UConn or Rutgers next.

If Billy Gillespie can get hired again after tanking Kentucky the way he did, Golden can find another gig too.

After 2015 though? No way in ****. College sports have never seen the fan hatred starting to boil over.

Billy Gillespie's work before Kentucky was more impressive to what Golden has on his resume.
Please, please, for the love of all that is pure, stop with the nonsense that he will, or even should, resign.
No one leaves millions on the table, especially if they realize their career is trending down.

Oh, and LULZ at comparing him or his situation to Doug Marrone.
Stop it already!

lol. Lots of ***** being thrown at the wall here and at CIS. Let me try and separate the wheat from the chaff.

As I mentioned earlier this week, some BoT member and a couple of UM lawyers were going over with a fine tooth comb the language of Al's contract in regards to keeping or firing assistant coaches.

Al's agent came back into town for 2 days. He was also in town after the Pitt game when I thought we really had the best chance to part ways.

BOTH sides have tried to get out of the contract but BOTH sides want the better end of the deal. Al is digging in and won't go without the full dollar amount. UM up til now does not want to pay the full amount and believing that they are keeping him are trying to at least force some changes in his staff as they realize the status quo simply cannot be allowed to remain as is.

Al, while not off the grid, did fade into the background for a day or two. This is where I think the CIS rumor started to grow. Al gone quiet, his agent in town, the Mexican standoff being played out like a 3rd grade slumber party pillow fight.

Since my guy has yet to be wrong, I will keep riding with him. There is activity. There are contingency plans being made. There are statements being prepared. The one good thing about the PSU incident is that the UM folks now have a plan in place to be active instead of reactive, but with this group who knows that may be worse.

All the major players are due to be back tomorrow. Another push will be made for termination. Once again we will have to wait and see if the bean counters will give in.

if this sounds like rinse-wash-repeat it is because it is. The absurdity of it all is breathtaking. Like someone else said, I can't recall any sports team, Pro or college, that has ever been held hostage like this. But I don't blame Al here. The ones holding us hostage are the UM lawyers IMO.

I put STEP DOWN in quotes for a reason. No I do not think he actually quits. I think he actually gets fired but if he is smart, he will negotiate a little off the buyout to call it "stepping down."

This is the only way I see anything going down tomorrow. A fake resignation.

Man Al Golden is selfish, yes the he was given the extension but seriously man, you have the nerve after your lackluster coaching performance and expect every cent. Have a lot **** nerve! Beyond pathetic man. He is a stubborn coach who kept blaming the cloud, the weather, or anything he could stir up at the time which in turn, turned out not to be worth a ****. Look at USC and Penn State.. Get outta here with that bs crap man. YOU receive millions per year and have the nerve to beg for the full amount after this pathetic season. Last 9-4 did not mean anything either, we did not win the ACC or a bowl game so please Golden enlighten us fans why you think you deserve the full amount!
