So u guys are saying its not true or it is is. Do u guys know its 2 a.m? You will hear nothing one way or the other until daylight at earliest. BJ is more than likely going to come out with something. If Golden is staying he has to....recruiting is already a dumpster fire

Again, Al Golden is undefeated in the rumors game.

Jameis Winston was also undefeated in his career coming into the Rose Bowl game...

We ain't that lucky to get rid of Fat Al. Blake and Donna are gonna do the right thing? seriously? When have they ever done the right thing for the football program? Move on people he will be the coach next season use logic. Threads like this just get the fanbase in an unnecessary frenzy of hope that hasn't existed since 2001.

Look, I want to see Al Golden be gone by resigning or being fired in best interests of our once mighty football program. No matter what and how.

I prefer to use a wait and see approach about the current of him although I believe Geo305 with a bit of reservation.

My question to Geo305 is: Why Monday? Why not tomorrow or this Saturday. You can see that the waiting time is stressful to some of us.

The original post said by Monday, not on Monday.

He's already answered this question in this thread.

Golden's buyout is at most the remainder on his contract.

Which, by a conservative estimate is still going to be north of $10M.

If his buyout is just the remainder on his contract, then there is like a 0% chance that it would be due as a lump sum. It would be due over the course of the next six years.

If he has a clause calling for a lump sum, it's almost assuredly a lesser amount than the amount remaining on the contract.

So in plain english, his buyout isn't unmanageable for UM.

Would you live with another year of Golden if it meant getting Chip Kelly next year?

If we're going to play this hypothetical game I need hypothetical guarantees that

1) This inept, cheap administration was definitely going to be willing to pony up the monumental amount of cash it would take to sign Kelly
2) I would need assurances from the football gods that Golden wouldn't go on a lucky streak (considering we have a weak *** schedule next year) and back his way into 8, 9 or 10 wins and buy more time from the ****tards that run our program.

You guarantee me both of things and I'd say yes.

But back in the real world...I say fire his *** right now and make the safe hire with Butch and let's move on with life.

Why don't people understand that there are coaches that Miami can't get. It's more than money. Chip Kelley could be in the NFL or at a school that puts 90k in the seats. Miami gets the job done when things are clicking but we will never be an A list job. Luckily we don't need a Saban type coach to win big. Butch (or somebody like him) will do the job.

Should Golden be gone by Monday, I want Don Soldinger to return to UM.

http://caneswatch.blog.palmbeachpos...t-been-the-same-since-don-soldinger-departed/

I've said it since this board was created and going back to the days on Grassy...

Soldinger is a pure teacher. We haven't had many of those here over the last decade and you could argue he was possibly the best position coach /assistant we've had in this program during that same span of time.

He never should have been let go in the first place so it goes without saying this is one of the few "guys from the past" I wouldn't have a problem with the new coach retaining/bringing back.

And if Kelly were to, say have a poor season next year and get fired, he'd look to return to college. Ever heard of a guy named Pete Carroll? Pay a coach properly and he'll come to your school. See Michigan, OSU, and Bama's recent hires. It really is all about the money. We're at the point now where we need to pay for a really great coach.

Do you know how many schools say the exact same line as this: "we don't need an elite coach we are XXXX University we just need a good one"? When your program is in the dumps, you can do two things: get lucky, or make an excellent proven hire. Look at Bama's record and coaches before they finally got tired and paid up for Saban.

Look at where USC had been before the hired an NFL head coach who had a ring as a coordinator. Look who we hired in 1978. That's where we are now. The reality is if we think we can just go half way on a coaching hire, we will NEVER get out of where we are.

We need to get an elite coach. Do not kid yourselves. Butch may not be Saban, in that he's hands down one of the best college coaches ever, but he was still an elite coach. There's a reason the NFL wanted him and why UNC went nuts when they landed him. He was in the top tier of college coaches.

What we need to do is either break the bank and pay for the right guy who is established or hire a competent AD that can land an innovative up and comer who has the right mindset for Miami. ****, in 2007, we hired Randy Shannon and didn't even give Harbaugh an interview. At the time, Miami probably was a better job than Stanford and if we had gotten Harbaugh, we'd have 6-7 titles by now. Harbaugh was coming from a school that didn't even have scholarships! He was the definition of an up and comer. A great AD will be able to spot guys like that and convince them to come to the school.

We're going to do neither because people like Blake James have no clue what they are doing.

Pete Carroll was kind of a lucky result. He was a good NFL DC who had been fired as a head coach. Would it be considered a big time hire if we brought in Jack Delrio or Mike Nolan?
