Bottom line is, Mario has built a team that’s more talented than pretty much every team we face. In the ACC, it’s by a significant margin. They beat the one team that was more talented than them but lost to three lesser teams. (I know Indiana was good but I wouldn’t have traded rosters with them.)

There were also two wins that came down to the wire that shouldn’t have simply because we coach scared too often still. I think a lot of that had to do with not trusting Beck’s arm. Offensively, we were a very average team last year and below average in terms of explosive plays. We played way too much five-yards-at-a-time football and it hurt us. Playing it close to the vest is how you get upset by weaker opponents. I don’t like playing in games where one freak bounce of the ball can determine an outcome. Especially against teams you’re way better than.

Here’s the question: was 2024 a fluke because we had Cam Ward and we knew the defense couldn’t stop anyone so we purposely had to try to outscore everyone? Does Mario really want to be the hyper conservative offense we saw in 2025 when he has a defense that can carry the load? Or did Dawson understand Beck’s shortcomings and tailor the offense to what he did well (quick decisions, short passes)? It is possible for a team to be good on both offense AND defense at the same time even though here at Miami that’s very rarer.

We can agree to disagree. I'd rather Miami score a lot of points (the earlier the better) than win the National Championship for Time of Possession. Last years offense wasn't good enough and let them down in all three losses.

And when your best player (Toney) is a WR, and you have an elite QB(knock on wood), and a deep and talented crew of WRs -- and maybe a TE defiency -- well, I know which kind of offense I'd run this season

With all due respect, I never said that we shouldn't pass the ball or try to outscore the opponent. The article that I linked in my last post, clearly stated "Throw the ball to score and run the ball to win." What is implicit in that statement, is that running the football is more critical to winning than passing is. This claim is supported by both the data, & the W/L results from our most recent season. The 3 losses from last yr that u alluded to, MIA had a negative turnover margin in all 3, & was outrushed in 2 out of 3. Perhaps if MIA was able to run the ball better in those games, the outcomes would've been different. Which again harkens back to the pt I made earlier in the thread about the lack of diversity in Dawson's running game. That imo, is a much bigger problem, than any perceived conservatism by Cristobal.

I called for Mario to be hired before Richt was hired (and I was fine with Richt) and before Diaz was hired (and I was not fine with Diaz).

I knew that Mario would always eventually succeed here because he is a stubborn ************ who was going to bring back the JJ-Butch style of evals, recruiting, and playing NO MATTER WHAT.

I know the first couple of years were tough, but if you knew what he was dealing with behind the scenes...good lord, we had guys living IN BROWARD COUNTY...

You did not “know” he would succeed because he is stubborn.
