Donno and Geo -- Guys that have taken that next step in Fall Camp

This DL is gonna be filthy. Elite array of pass rushers, solid on the inside. Idk what opposing OL are gonna do apart from hold and hope the refs let them get away with murder. (Keep a close eye on those SEC refs game 1)
You know **** well a holding call will never go our way. Why u gotta get our hopes up?

One thing that Geo said that really stood out to me when talking about Markeith Williams was that he (Geo) believes you can't really get an accurate assessment of the development of a player until at least 3 years. I've long believed this as well, especially with line play. Yes, there are the unicorns like Reuben Bain and Cici. But it's WAAAAAAAY more common for guys to need a couple years at the college level to be ready. I think a lot of folks forget that and just want instantaeous results.

Samson is a redshirt freshman. Ahmad Moten is a redshirt sophomore. So is Markeith. So is Jaden Harris. I think a lot of people on this board need to take a breath and remember that these guys are still young and have potentially three seasons to ball out as Canes.

and F the Gators
Nah man if you are a true soph people here expect you to win the Heisman or else you are a jag.

It's funny looking back at previous staff's you would think that the Offensive Line was a total afterthought. While we were hit and miss at DL there were plenty of kids who had no business wearing the uniform. Don't even get me started at LB and the flat footed secondaries. The evals at WR generally sucked too. What Mario has brought to this team in terms of quality of the roster and culture has been awe inspiring!
Just imagine what Mario can do with a Acc Championship and CFP berth under his belt during closing season!

Never been an XO head, but I remember in the mid aughts a head lamenting the dropoff in the trenches as a harbinger of doom . Really stuck with me. seen it play out for almost 20 - That and Coaching Matters; but in homage to @Dwinstitles - if you can't get the big uns in the trenches, the coaching doesn't matter as much.

Green shoots. Hoping some sprout.
Coleman Bell agrees.

Donno needs to call out this ******* Bandon Olsen that does the locked on gators pods. Dude is a troll homer and just spouts nonsense for clicks.

I'm thirsty for content so I've watched his crap hoping there's something interesting to be gleaned from his incoherent gaytor delusions. So far not so much but it would be nice to see him try to trailer park ramble his way through an actual convo with an informed and reasonable adversary like Donno.

* Markeith Williams
* Chris Johnson
* Jaden Harris

Also a quick mention that there may be positive news about Fletcher, "can't say more". Also mentioned in the recruiting section that Miami is still going hard after guys, including a lot of guys that are currently committed to other programs. General vibe that Miami is going to land several of these guys. Specifically discussed a few guys currently committed to Florida who will be in play if they have a bad season.

Spent some time on the DL. Talked about all the starters then went over the younger potential contributors. Mentioned Moten as coming in to his own, as well as Malik Bryant. High expectations for Scott and McConathy. "If they're not the best DL in the country, they'll be one of the Top 2 or 3 units overall"

Jesus Christ brother! I hope they didn’t spend time on the “DL”! BIG PAUSE

It's amazing how worried everyone was about the DL just a few months ago and now we're talking about it being one of the best if not THE best. Go Canes
True. It helped once Barron and Barrow transferred in. DE, I don’t think was the big worry. DT on the other hand. Still not exactly confident in the DT group by itself but when one have guys like Mesidor and Bain who can slide to DT especially on passing downs, it helps a lot. Still worried about our run defense though.

Some things that give me confidence in the run game, DE’s and LBs. Bain and Messidor are good against the run and are bigger, NFL type DEs. Our LBs, best unit since 2005?

You see Freud in everything lol. As someone who is totally comfortable in my heterosexuality, I have no issue saying stuff like "I hope we piledrive those ******* gators. I hope we lay the wood on them. I hope we ragdoll them like the little ******* they are". No pause.

I'm right there with you. Need to see it to believe it. I just shared, doesn't mean I am sold on the sunshine. But it's better than hearing bad things.

IF TRUE that our DL is one of the best in the country and our Safeties are way better than expected .... well, we already know our LB corps is massively improved, so that just leaves CB as a possible area of weakness. No other holes across both O and D. Again, if true.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention is that Geo is the second guy to call out Markeith. Flo was talking him up in one of his podcasts post scrimmage, as well. So that's two points of validation. I honestly thought they moved Meesh back to Safety because Williams wasn't ready. But maybe that's not true? Maybe they really do think Brown at Nickle is the best back 5, and Markeith is ready and will rotate, but just that 6th/7th guy right now?
I remember when we where recruiting Markieth Williams and I've been a fan of his ever since. Watching that kid play was so fun because he is the prototypical ballhawking centerfielder type FS. Markieth has some crazy instincts and uses them to get pick after pick! I also knew that it would likely take a few years for him to develop because he was very skinny and Mario demands physicality.

This will be his third year in the program so when I started to hear whispers about him making interceptions in camp I was both very excited yet not surprised. As the whispers grew louder and eventually became shouts I was relieved that Markieth was finally having the light come on because of our situation at Safety. This would be the perfect time for one of our 3rd year kids to break through, stop thinking and start Ballin! Then I started hearing that he led the team in INT's all through camp and again I wasn't the least bit surprised. Why? Because it's who he is! It's who he was when I used to watch this tall rail thin kid at Jones getting all these interceptions!

This is a very significant development for this defense because knowing how good we are on the front 7 and how deep and talented we are at DE, if we have an instinctive ballhawk roaming around the backend(pause) that spells some serious potential for interceptions. I don't necessarily expect Markieth to start as Mishael Powell has the starting FS job but he will get his fair share of PT as the top 4 of Powell, Harris, M.Williams and Patterson will all rotate. I would expect however that of the 4 Markieth Williams and Zaquan Patterson will show marked improvement as the season progresses. Williams as the 3rd year veteran who is just beginning to come into his own and true freshman 5 star Zaquan Patterson the talented hard hitting and explosively athletic kid who gets better every day. It's only a matter of time before Patterson takes one of the starting safety spots. The unit is anchored by Powell the experienced, versatile 6th year senior who is the unquestioned leader of the secondary and rounded out by Jaden Harris a hard working steadily improving 3rd year speedster who is a jack of all trades having also played CB with the ability to play Nickel whenever Guidry calls on him. Watch out for Dylan Day by the end of the season. Day is an instinctive ballhawk with a 6'2" 200 lbs frame that can punish RBs as well as he can pick off passes. I honestly think the evals for this entire class have been borderline clairvoyant.

Good situation for some of the younger guys to see that sticking it out is paying off rather than jumping in the portal. Thanks for sharing.

They won’t be SEC refs game one. They will be ACC refs.

Holy cow those were bad. The Clemson one was egregious. I think the commentator was Jesse Palmer? Maybe Brock H? And he was like oh yeah that’s a safety
It's not even hyperbole to say there no longer exists a definition of a safety at least as applied to Miami. It's literaly not. I had blocked that **** out until I saw the OP comment
