"Chelsea Clinton had helped persuade Ms. Shalala to leave her position in Miami and move to New York to run the Clinton Foundation..."

aka

She exceeded her welcome at the University of Miami, and was asked to step down as President after 14 years

Well working with the Clinton Foundation with their foreign doner mess would give anyone a stroke. She hit the jackpot with that debacle.
Hope she has a speedy recovery.

God Bless her. I've heard that happens quite often to people soon after retirement. My older brother's friend retired recently and less than 2 months later he suffered a stroke. Hope she recovers well.

Dam. My aunt begin having a series of strokes a few months ago. She died last night. I send out my best wishes

**** that is sad to hear. Prayers up to shalala and her family.

Thank God the article mentioned that she was the first woman leader of UM. The reader would have been woefully under-informed had that not been made clear.

Nonetheless, it's really bad form to say anything negative after someone suffers any sort of health issue. I'd much rather have a healthy and happy Donna alive and well to see Hillary not become President, the CGI/Clinton Foundation essentially fold and to be assigned blame for any future failings of UHealth. Here's to a full and speedy recovery, Ms. Shalala!

A lot of disagreement with her politically and with some of her UM presidential actions (and agreement with others). I won't stoop to the same level as her party's rationalization for selling baby parts...Here is to a speedy recovery.

I think you might have uncovered something there. I've also noticed that most old people retire and most stroke victims are old. Maybe you and I can spearhead a study to see if our hunch is scientifically viable.

The woman raised more than 2.5 Billion dollars for the University of Miami. She was bad for Canes football, but she was an incredible president overall. I wish her a speedy recovery and hope she impacts global civil liberties and individual freedom through the Clinton Foundation as positively as she did the U.

From Wikipedia: "Shalala created a UM fundraising campaign called "Momentum", designed to raise UM's endowment from approximately $750 million to $1 billion; the goal was later increased to $1.25 billion by the end of 2007. In February 2012 the University of Miami announced Momentum2: The Breakthrough Campaign for the University of Miami, with $906 million already raised at the time of the public launch. On October 26, 2012, UM announced that Momentum2 hit the $1 billion mark, on track to reach the fundraising goal of $1.6 billion in 2016."
