Don Brown fired

OSU recruits and develops at a BAMA level. WE’D give up 118 points against them if we played them twice.

yeah probably.

I want real upgrade at DC, I don’t think it’s Brown but at this point I would take him bc he is not Manny’s boy.

You're missing my point. It's not that you MUST find the next Joe Brady; its that you need to try to find an up-and-comer and someone who's shown it can adjust to the modern offenses in the college game, not simply turning back to the old guard who've shown that they can't.

Exhibit A: Pelini at LSU this year.
Hope we can catch lightning in a bottle then. For every Marcus Freeman who succeeds how many David Yost’s are there?

Sorry but coaching senior laden overacheivers at BC is the complete opposite talent pool of what he'd have in sfl. Not to mention BC and Micigan are completely diff culture fits. And hes trending down....i dont like it.
I wouldn't call 4 straight years in the top 10 trending down. Yeah, we can point to this year, but it's too soon to determine if it's a trend or a data point.

I maybe exaggerating a bit. But age wise 65+ is trending down. The culture fit is the biggest thing for me for a coach who maybe has one contract left up his sleeve.

3. Don Brown was the problem at Michigan.

Farrell’s take: FICTION. I still blame the offense. It’s been boring and ineffective since Jim Harbaugh took over and the lack of consistency puts more pressure on the defense. Brown didn’t adapt his defense to personnel as much as people would have liked, but he is who he is. And so is Harbaugh. Look at the offense here.

Gorney’s take: FICTION. I broke down each of Michigan’s losses during Brown’s five years as defensive coordinator and I’ve come to the conclusion that he was absolutely not the problem in the Wolverines’ struggles but is now the fall guy for all of Michigan’s issues. There were 19 losses in Brown’s tenure with eight of them by a touchdown or less. In many others, Michigan’s offense could not get going and the Wolverines’ defense could only hold up so long.
This last season was a struggle though giving up 49 to a bad Wisconsin offense and losing to Michigan State was inexcusable. Brown is a fantastic football coach who could only do so much. The offense remains the issue in Ann Arbor without question.

We really must have a lot of posters who didn't watch football in the early 2000s because the criticism of Brown is very similar to the criticism Venables got in his last season at Oklahoma.

Alot of the downfall of his defense was they added in new assistants to play more zone defense and he's never been a zone scheme. Also the lack of talent at cb pushed them to play more zone. You think Miami's corners are bad? Michigan's were way worse.

The last two years getting smoked by ohio St was a big factor in adding more zone into the scheme. Ohio St. Is still running crossing routes smoking Michigan.

Don brown is a non existent recruiter. The only area he recruits is guys from the northeast and most don't pan out. Kwiity paye was the best.

Scheme wise he'd be a good fit if our corners could hold up but I don't think he'd fit in miami. I think he'll wanna coach in the northeast again. That's where he's comfortable

Thanks my bro; so it appears the chit show in Ann Arbor is more of anomaly. Talked to my frat who’s by far thee most annoying Michigan grad & fan I’ve ever known. Lol. He said Don was solid, but what irked him & their fans was his inability to adjust to talent level. He said Michigan was very young on the backend, and despite the pups struggling with the speed of the game, Don refused to come off his press man defense & give them help.

He’s indifferent to the firing b/c when Michigan’s Def was on, they were on, but when the talent was out matched or exploited, he was stubborn to it. That was his viewpoint. He said a lot of fans felt that way.
I'm from Michigan and watch a ton of michigan and they had saxton hill at safety and no one else in the secondary worthy of playing at michigan. But he's at fault partially because he's a bad recruiter and tried to take alot of 3 star guys who weren't talented enough. Kitty paye was the only good hit out of the guys he wanted but none of the dbs HE wanted were good.

They did hire bob shoop to help throw some zone in there but he never coached this year. I bet he ends up on the east coast somewhere. He's not a good fit in Miami. Coaching isn't just x and o s. We don't need a non recruiting coach that's not gonna fit in culturally

DC & LB’s - Don Brown for Baker & Patke
S - Bob Shoop for Panda
DL - Greg Mattison for Stroud
CB - LCE or @fraggle for Rumph

we ******!!!
That's a delusional list. You think Greg martinson would even think about miami? Bob shoop was at Michigan but didn't coach. Don browns gonna go to the east coast

excellent (top 10) defenses 4 years in a row. this year the wheels came off the wagon. it can happen.

he's an excellent DC by any measure. I'd take him in a heartbeat
He’s probably glad to be fired so he doesn’t have to wear those **** khaki pants anymore.😜

This guy’s on the downside of a very good career. He’s best suited at a place like BC where he can sign and coach a bunch of smart scrappy try hard 3 stars with a chip on their shoulder from not getting their dream offers to ND or Ped State.

Hold on? Did someone say that Dabo was smart for hiring Brent Venables? If I remember correctly, Clemson was coming off of given up 70 points to West Virginia. Venables was about to get fired by Oklahoma. Dabo wasn't hiring from a position of strength, he needed his defense fixed before he got fired. Just because something worked, doesn't mean Dabo knew it would work.

We getting Brown for DC, Shoop for S, TRob for CB, we getting everybody
