I see a lot of posts claiming that the new NCAA rule allowing players to profit from the use of their likeness will help Miami. Not so fast my friend. To the contrary, it will serve to benefit Bama, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas, etc, etc., in other words the “big name” schools and the “big campus” schools. If a top notch high school QB can go to Ohio State with 45,000 potential customers on campus, and 100,000 potential customers going to every game, and literally millions of alumni, OR, he can go to Miami with 15,000 potential customers on campus, and maybe 40,000 at a game on a good day, and not even 10% of Ohio State’s alumni, where will that QB sell the most T-shirts and make the most money? And believe me, money will always win out over sandy beaches, nightlife, and warm weather. It just became much more likely that the chances of Miami winning another national championship have dramatically decreased. Naturally I hope I’m wrong. Time will tell.

But a kid from Miami can start making money on his likeness as soon as he signs on the dotted line because he is known locally from his pop warner and high school days. At those schools he has to get on the field and make plays before he has that opportunity. Might take 2 years before he sees the field there. Advantage Miami with local stars.

This is gold!

So ur saying Amari Daniels being a local stud would help him make more money cause he was an 8th grade beast?

You're wrong or at least looking at it the wrong way. Those schools may have a bigger campus to market to, but Miami, USC, UCLA, have a bigger market of potential customers in the millions. That's just within 50 miles of campus. Customers are not just alumni. I'm not an alumnus of Miami and I have more Miami gear than 10 alumnus. I have 5 pair of UM kicks and 20-30 shirts plus multiple jackets, pants, and even socks. So, it's not just about the alumni. Miami has more non alumni fans than probably any school by a large margin and when the team wins, everyone wants to be associated with Miami. Team just needs to win and we'll be lit. Just look to the 2017 season when we were undefeated with are "Coastal" schedule. That showed us what Miami could be and should be.

Just win. Win win, win, win, win. My FSU week song.

Where were you a while back when there were all kinds of posts about this? I got berated trying to explain this exact same thing because of "muh media market" by delusionals.

Exactly.

Anyone that thinks this doesn’t help Miami has been digesting Krazy canes loose ****.

Does this put Miami on the sec schools level? No. But it at least gives us a rocket launcher to go against their tanks filled with cash.

its a helluva competitive advantage. The counter would be “come to our school and we will pay you 100k up front to offset those costs and then you can profit from your likeness on top of it”

If having a bigger market mattered, we wouldn't have entire empty sections at our home games, even in our best years. The "market" couldn't care less about UM or its football team.

Who would you compare Krazy Cane to from Gru Sport, @Dr.L.ThugU?

Not to mention we have 50x the amount of businesses looking to use their likeness vs Tuscaloosa or Athens. Much much wider net in the tri-county area.

Thank you. Literally just said the same thing.

You my dude and all but you tripping on this one homie. Big markets have a lot more business.

Bama, uga and the schools of that ilk will always get theirs. But schools like UM and Usc with their markets will have a lot of options. Gives us a fighters chance, just keeping 5-6 extra studs home a class is enormous.

Alabama , Texas , Clemson and Uga already get who they want , literally the top of every player ranking. There’s 25 kids in a class , so how can a class full of five stars get better with the same numbers?

This will help the second tier schools and big market schools more. The schools I mentioned are always going to spend the same 4-6 million a class. That won’t change.

This opens the door for schools like um to get 5-6 more highly rated kids than normal. Which is huge.

I remember making a comment on a similar post before....
"Honestly most kids in South Florida really do want to stay home there isn't any recruits/players in the country that rep their hometown like our own but It's like a job for them to take an opportunity to the highest bidder to support the families." Some of you all have families so you know what I talking about. You ever love a job so much where you are at but yet there was an opportunity for a larger pay scale and better benefits at another company?

We will kill the game in all level of playing fields .
We might be back. This is a game changer!

I work in Marketing for one of the leading global brands. UM's potential versus the public schools is colossal. Am tired of debating.

Look up, both, DMA and advertising dollars per DMA. Research Reach and Frequency and see where Miami lands. You need 1 individual in Miami to account for 40 others in Alabama........ You need 1 fanatic Bacardi to start paying. Carnival will pay and Di Mare will pay.

We CANNOT pay at present. Going from $0 to a typical Marketing budget will generate marked results.

Not a correlation. Just because attendance is down doesn't mean people aren't watching on tv. People still buy UM gear. Why are we such a big deal to ESPN? Why a big deal to Adidas? Because we have 10 million people living in SF and nearly 30 million in the state. We are still a national brand.
