Dolphins stadium naming deal worth $250+MM over 12 yrs

How much of that does UM get?

By previously established Paranos-logic on this matter, Ross should now allow us to play there rent-free AND reimburse the school completely for the total cost of the IPF. Such actions will somehow enhance his ability to sign NFL free agents while also building the Dolphins reputation in the community. Well that and Paranos would probably demand (after some "math") that we get no less than 50% of the overall naming rights revenue on a yearly basis.

I'm not super familiar with the terms of UM's lease at Hard Rock Stadium but it seems they paid for an outdated. shade-less stadium and they're getting a state of the art, covered facility now. I can only assume that Ross can't actually raise their rent.

I don't see how da Seminoles gonna make enough additional profit from having their name on a stadium to justify paying that kind of money. Unless the Seminoles getz to install slot machines all over the stadium and sell blow in the parking lot maybe.

That would be really funny to have the Canes playing in Seminole Stadium

The stadium deal isn't with the Seminoles, it's with hard rock international, who have hotels and casinos all over the world.

The Seminole tribe of Florida owns Hard Rock International. All the restaurants, casinos, clothing, everything trademarked Hard Rock. They have made so much gambling money, the tribe has millions to just throw away.

****! I did not know that! Either way, the hard rock brand is more than just this location, and the other joints don't have Seminole in the name... As far as I know anyway

Hard Rock -- I think I like that. "we will, we will rock you ...." goes well with that.

**** you ol' basterd you brought it back to Queen. Good lord I didn't even think of that, oh wow my youth just came flooding back 8-). I was the lone minority in my Catholic school class so I was forced to listen to this A lot.

Never associated it with Catholic school - I was out of UM Law by time that song came out, but seemed to me that We Are the Champions or that was the Cane school song. What Catholic school?

I've always thought naming rights on stadiums were dumb as ****, but at least the name isn't half bad.

I wonder what their employees think about this. As with everyone, they probably feel underpaid and their employer just dropped that kind of coin on this.

I always preferred the more traditional stadium names to the obvious naming rights names but let's be real, Stephen Ross just spent close to a half billion renovating that stadium. If he wants to recoup some of that through ad revenue, it's totally up to him.

I went to school in Connecticut, 20 mins outside of NYC. Don't get me wrong I am eternally greatful for the opportunity I was given an have tried to make the most of it every day because I know there were a lot of kids that didn't get the same chance.

Go Canes

Ross, he's a shrewd Business man. So obviously that $500m he's forking out of his own pocket means nothing to a boss. He's going to get $250m from Hardrock, not including other potential sponsors, the NFL will break him off from hosting the SB, the NCAA will break him off from hosting the OB, he'll get broke off from hosting concerts and other events, and our Canes are breaking him off. Sheesh.

This is the only reason why I wanted the Canes to somehow partner up w someone to get our own stadium, so they could have another revenue stream. It's no different than the landlord and the renter...the landlord gets the monthly income from rent and gets the tax break while the renter gets zilch.

he didnt pony up $500m, the renovations may have cost that much. i would assume he obtained a loan for a high percentage of that and therefore his return on capital is going to be even higher. he's not a billionaire by accident.

I can see the fans getting into this.

Maybe we can get a sponsor to intro the The Orange Bowl game with some babes...

The Dolphins' Stadium is literally built on an Indian burial ground, maybe thats the connection to they wanted to have

I heard that those nuns can do mean things to your knuckles with a ruler.

RVACane that was on good day. I don't condone it today but Back in my day we got the fool beat out of us. There was this one particular nun from Italy oh wow she would take off her wooden clog ( this was the 70's remember) and hurl it across the room with laser precision at whomever the unfortunate soul was that cutting up in class. There was no warning and she never missed!!!!

Go Canes
