Does it generally take more than 1 year to turn around a sinking program?

Just asking for a friend....

Because it seems the belief system at CIS is that unless you turn a sinking program around in 8 months, you are automatically a **** coach who needs to be fired immediately...

I've posted this several times and NOT ONE DIAZ HATER had the NUTS to address it honestly with me:

Nick Saban's HC coaching career started this way:

Forget the 1990 Toledo because he took over a "loaded" and previously well coached team for that conference.

Michigan State is where you see the history of a "young HC" taking over a pathetic program. It took him FIVE years to recruit, make coaching adjustments and improve his craft before he achieved a winning record.

Now let's look at his time at LSU:

Year 1 was ok...

Year 2 looks great-- but he lost a bunch of seniors to the draft in 2001 (CANES WIN BIG that year anyways)

Year 3--- HOLY ****-- the CIS haters would have been flying "FIRE SABAN" banners for an 8-5 yr for sure... But this is what happens when you lose experienced seniors to the draft...

Reality and true history of Nick Saban -- i hate the guy... but you can't deny he's the best HC in the modern era of CFB.

If Saban needed FIVE years to establish his FIRST winning season at Michigan State... to eventually become the GOAT of CFB HC's...

How is it that Diaz needs to be fired in his FIRST year at Miami?

Don't throw your mindless hate.... give me some LOGICAL arguments based on some FACTS.

If you hate Diaz, show my with some facts how that position is justified against the example of Nick Saban in his first 5 years at a young HC...

Sorry you wasted your time with this.

Manny Diaz inherited the most talented team in the weakest division in CFB and had a super soft sch. 6 wins is pathetic.

Why don’t you go back and also provide MSU previous 4 years of recruiting rankings? You won’t cuz they were trash. Where as Miami has been top 20.

No one expected manny to compete for a national title but for some reason weird ppl like you act like expecting to beat ga Tech, Duke and FIU is some grand accomplishment.

Prior to Saban coming to MSU, their 4 prior seasons best record was a 6 win team and they made their only bowl, the liberty bowl. They where also little brother to Michigan in that state and Saban immediately came in and had a better season than any of the 4 prior seasons.

Prior to Manny coming here. The last 4 years our worst season was a 7 win season and we made the Orange bowl 2 years earlier. Our main rival FSU had the worst corch in their entire history. UF also was coming off a terrible string of corches and Manny goes out and hands us a season worse than any of the 4 prior.

Now this is my kinda thread! There should be lots of delightful responses to this one. I can just feel the magic and Christmas cheer beaming from the future responders as they merrily engage OP, and thank him for opening our eyes to our football savior---Manny Diaz.

Nobody would be calling for Diaz's head in year 1 if we didn't lost to teams we had no business losing to.

Losing to GTech, FIU, Duke & UNC was inexcusable, the Va Tech loss was bad too but not as bad as those other L's.

That's why people have no faith in Diaz turning it around, even as a first year HC he could've easily gone 8-4 with this schedule, Chris Klieman who was a FCS coach won 8 games this year at K-State in year 1.

Obviously no coach gets fired in year 1, but the reason why people aren't buying that he's suddenly going to turn into Saban next year is because he's shown no signs he has what it takes to turn it around, he's compounding all his mistakes by doubling down on them & not changing anything, which will only result in more inexplicable & inexcusable losses.

He's digging his own grave, not us. Manny would have bought himself more leeway had he fired guys like Enox, Barry, Patke etc, but acting as if nothing is wrong & all our problems are just because "we're young" just spells out he doesn't get it & is headed down the same quick firing pathway that Taggart blazed.

You typically wont find that the hoes respond to anything intellectual where they cant flip the narrative. They will jump all over your typical hoe articles when a recruit goes elsewhere or when we lose a game. To turn around a program it takes leaders on both sides of the ball and depth. Not guys who skip a bowl game or enter the draft early when they need more film and field production. The program will make changes along the way and when the winning picks up the ones who have that hoe mentality will be left on the side saying dumb **** like usual.

Your points are all valid. It is a shame that everyone else hates on CMD.

It's been 15+ years of sinking...

More often than not you see signs or a turnaround in year one. Herded the problem with Diaz........ He got out coached several times this year not out manned. Very alarming. Butch Davis made Diaz look stupid auf. I mean, in some cases FIU just out worked Miami. For example that goalin 4th down play. That play was there had nelson and #13 blocked instead of falling over themselves like some biches
