Does Ed O have an official role?

Besides the numerous other reasons why he's not getting a job at UM, the position group Coach O would likely be working with is already loaded with coaches and consultants. We have two on field D-line coaches, Todd Stroud is still employed here and Jason Taylor was recently hired. Not really sure having more than four defensive line coaches is a priority.

Doesn’t seem to be an issue at UGA & Bama lol

From the sounds of it he has to take a year off because of language in his LSU buyout so he’ll be in a studio somewhere during the season. He told Cowherd he was hoping to get his son a GA position. Our Ga spots are locked up so intern it is for now. Don’t be surprised if he’s analyst in 23 with his son as a GA.

He doesn't have to "take a year off" and work in a broadcast booth, he is free to work (for free) as an analyst if he wants to.

While there is very little that surprises me, it would be very surprising if Orgeron ever works as an analyst AT UM.

I am glad to see that Ed O and Warren Sapp are no longer interested in beating the crap out of one another. And that Warren is capable of wearing adidas.

Is that completely away from football or just an on-field position?

Looking at the history of UM, I would completely 100% agree with you. And that very well may be the case. No debate there.

However...

You also can't deny that, starting with the President's office, things have taken a DRASTIC turn in the last 4 months. If Mario says he wants someone, after the strings they pulled to get Mario and Rad, I can completely believe that there could be a directive from the President's office to make it happen, regardless of what has happened over the course of the last 30-40 years.

Not saying it'll happen, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as it once was.

Sure. Keep huffing that glue.

We knocked Jurich out of consideration. Kiffin was never happening. Nor was Freeze or the Pirate. Briles was a smokescreen that was also unlikely to be tolerated.

I'm just being honest. "Starting with the President's office". ****, Frenk just ****canned the Law School Dean. Echevarria (former head of Deloitte) was running the show on the hirings, along with an assist from former Manny Garcia advocate Fernandez.

And what were the strings that we pulled to get Dan and Mario? Both guys are UM alums. Both guys have worked for UM previously. I realize that they were both impressive hires, but Miami did not have to pull any strings to get them (just cut big checks). I mean, if we had hired Jurich and Kiffin, then I would agree with you, Miami is willing to look the other way on character issues. But that didn't happen.

Again, we are comparing apples to oranges. Dan and Mario required the payment of money. Big money. On the other hand, Ed Orgeron would cost almost nothing (monetarily) but would have significant questions about his past behavior. Those are two completely different "strings to pull".

I'm always open to having my mind changed. If it happens, that's fine. But I really don't understand why people are allowing themselves to fall for the banana in the tailpipe. Again and again and again.

Dude got run from his dream job in his home state essentially for wild n' out.

His next move?

Relocate to Miami with $16M in his pocket and nothing but free time.

How'd ya like to be Coach O's wingman for the next couple months?

If I take a sabbatical and @SWFLHurricane is now retired, we can hook up with Butch, JJ, Ed O, and a few former players and go fishing every day and drinking every night...
