want to coach here? He clearly did not have the team ready or interested in playing UVA. Gotta think he knows he is not doing well and his honeymoon is WAY over with the fans. He might be hanging on as he knows he will not get another big job based on his performance. I just don't think his heart is in it. Maybe not getting the PSU gig was part of it but he is in way over his head at UM.

I tend to think the same thing. I think Al might want Donna to put him out of his misery. At this point it might be a mercy firing.
 
He was a broken man in his press conference following his attempted escape to Penn State. The rejection from his alma mater, and shame he felt when he had to crawl back down here, hat in hand after disappearing, destroyed him.

He was a real pathetic subhuman in that presser. He knew his dream job, his "home," just told him "no thanks."
 
I wasn't to fond of him before the Penn State debacle, but to me he hasn't been the same since that.

They're basically the same guy. Franklin just has a little more skin pigment, a slimmer waist and shows a little more annoying over-excitement on the sideline. Two guys that have mastered the public image game without mastering the actual game they're paid to win. Franklin will probably get an extra year more than he deserves up there too.

That's surprising. I thought Franklin was good hire. I know is record isn't great, but his only bad loss (going by point margin) was to Northwestern.

Any loss to Illinois is a bad loss. Franklin is a fraud. Built his name on simply being relevant in an overrated SEC.

Yeah, but that relevance came through winning at Vandy. I know this sounds like the Al/Temple argument, but the MAC and the SEC are two different animals.
 
Time for Al to man up and move on. If he doesn't want to be here and WE do want him here then it is
an arrangement that benefits everyone. Just let me make one quick call to Butch first...

If we had a real Director of Athletics like BC had in Gene DeFilippo (the guy who fired Jeff Jagodzinski when he interviewed for the Jets' job), he would have fired El Foldo for interviewing with Ped State. Unfortunately, we have a sock puppet as our Director of Athletics.

This. Ever since the Penn State fiasco, something has just seemed off with him.
