Doc Holliday Out At Marshall

No pass. He has had one great defense which was this past season. Besides that he has been terrible.
As a HC of a jumpstart program? He can coach safeties. He fielded a top 15 defense at Wake one year he was there and built Charlotte from nothing to at least relevancy.

Then he just had the number 1 defense in America in 2020

**** of a resume for a co-coordinator

I was talking about him strictly as a dc. His defenses hasn’t been that good. Marshall was 2nd this past year but what about the year before that? **** diaz had the number 2 defense here before.

Doc is very very shady recruiting.. doesn’t have the best reputation fwiw

They fell apart down the stretch but still a very surprising move. Apparently the state governor went above the AD’s head to force him out.

We won’t do it but Doc would be a good hire at least as an analyst or something. Deep SFl ties.

Would definitely give Lambert a look. I watch a lot of Marshall games and their D has statistically been 1 of the best in the country under him and was dominant this year.

Doc would be an anti-Mandy type of hire. He's too much **** and vinegar for Mandy.

Does Doc still recruit well? If so, I would bring him in as some sort of analyst or position coach. He can recruit and he brings coaching experience to the defense.

Just a hunch here...

I dont expect Manny to bring in an older coach (older than 55 years) who has forgotten more football than Manny has ever learned.

Expect more in the accomplished late 30s to 40s range (fran brown, Washington, likens, Justice, lashlee, etc.)

Hes moving away from the completely green guys...but I dont expect old heads to be coming in who can undermine his authority.
Does Manny have some sort of Napoleonic thing going on or what?

Why not Winston Moss? Unquestionable experiences at highest level of football, knowledge, character, local support and would know how to relate and influence the kids and associated parties. Imagine if he was hired and brings in Tavaris (?) Robinson as assistant DC and CB coach.

I don't think this is a fair take. If Manny doesn't want to hire an older coach, I don't think it would be because of experience or authority issues. He hired Enos who had prior head coaching experience and came from the best program in the land. You can argue that prior to last season, Enos was more qualified than Manny.

I personally like younger hires because they tend to be more energetic recruiters, tend to adapt to trends better, and may be more creative. I think Manny steers towards that generalization too. But if an older coach who was competent became available, I don't think he would turn that candidate away simply because of a fear that he'd have someone looking over his shoulder.
