It would have spared us from having Manny as head coach.

If Richt coRched it up this year (which he probably would have), we’d fire him. His replacement wouldn’t be Diaz, since Diaz would be such a disaster at Temple.

I regret that Richt was pressured to corch the Canes in the first place.

This is the correct answer. Georgia fans are pretty nice people and were loyal to him....but the last couple of years they were calling for his head. He got run out of town and already had a foot out the door on the way to retirement. Only Miami swoops in , in that spot, and makes the offer we did. The incompetence within our administration runs deep.

the reason I wanted Mork gone was to get Butch, you woulda thought they woulda learned with Mork and not made the mistake twice in a row. Had Mork just waited another few days to walk at UGA i believe they woulda hired Butch then, then when Mork drug up I figured for sure they get Butch then, especially with all the support for him. NO !! what do these idiots do, they go backwards once again. There was one choice to right this ship, the only dude that had ever righted it before, AND they coulda signed him for half of what they were paying Mork to sleep all day. The people running this school would go bankrupt in no time in the real world, there you are accountable, if not you drown in your mistakes. Its not like we have all these top notch championship coaches lined up wanting this job. Butch was the right choice at the right time, ***ing banana republic

The problem is the process of picking a HC. It isn’t a when issue. Richt and Diaz were rushed. Probably need a new picker.

Example, Red Sox were owned by the Yawkeys for decades. Couldn’t win anything. Sold to John Henry. 4 WS since. The BOT are the Yawkeys. But how do you get a new BOT?

And uga has not done any better without richt. Neither has miami

Meh. I just wish Flake wasn’t a ****** and knew how to hire a real HC

You're forgetting the end of last season when there were dozens of pending transfers and one offensive recruit lined up.

Manny came in and turned the momentum completely around by dominating the transfer portal and a social media presence.

Then he and his two coordinators ruined it all by being even more retarded than richt and his crew.

Rick's offense was never getting us past Clemson but if we just look at this year in a bubble- what games would he have lost? Maybe UiF and maybe a random away one such as at Pitt? And that's even with the un-dynamic duo ad Co-DCs.

Maybe we then end up either getting smoked by Clemson in the ACCCG and/or someone else in the OB. Maybe then Rick has an epiphany that his offense isn't enough and makes a staff move?

Maybe he doesn't and retires again. I think we're then in a better position to get a new coach as we appear to be just on the brink and hopefully Manny would've been exposed enough after a year at Temple to not even get consideration.

*this removes the heart attack from the equation as I think that doesn't occur yet because he's too busy to consume the amount of Cheese Balls that induced it as a semi-retired man. It also discounts the notion that Blake and the BoT then think that Manny's D was all that was missing and that you can't possibly judge someone by one year as HC at Temple.

Richt wasn't "pressured" into retirement. Dude barely wanted the job in 2016, as was—but gave it a shot because Miami was his alma mater and the opportunity to get paid well to live in South Florida again, trying to revive things seemed worth a shot.

Three years in, he fast realized this was going to take more work than he originally anticipated—meaning giving up play calling, which long passed him by—as well as firing his son, who enjoyed working with, as what they were doing wasn't working.

Funny how Miami's AD and BoT get trashed incessantly for not being soft and incompetent—yet in this case they were total hard-asses who forced Richt to make changes, or he was gone. Which is it—because you can't have both.

Richt tapped out as the gig wasn't what he thought it would be and didn't want to work that hard at this phase of his life; 15 years at a high-pressure SEC gig, preceded by a decade running a championship-caliber offense at Florida State. A quarter century of doing it at that level, dude wanted out and left. End of story.

A good thing, as well—considering his heart attack this year, even while doing a low-energy gig like commentating on the ACC Network. Had he been doing the head coaching thing instead, he might not be here today.

Beyond all that, would love to know the list of names kicking down Miami's door to take this program over post-Richt. Y'all act like the admin was beating off capable, interested candidates with a stick.

Prior to Richt, a slew of up-and-comers and different type of guys winding up at UM, which is a niche gig and not as desirable as some of y'all think it is.

Your logic does not add up. We fired Coker and hired Shannon.

UGA2.webp

NO !! The offense was terrible under Richt. Look at the talent on this team. Richt is responsible for the majority of the roster.
Richt offense outscored Enos offense lol. Not saying we should have kept him or his offense. Just something to think about.

UGA has maintained at the TOP LEVEL. That itself is a feat.

There is nothing to even talk about here. Miami and UGA have nothing in common and shouldn't be mentioned between 2 paragraphs of the other. They have an administration that cares about football, we have an administration that doesn't give a flying **** about it.
