Do you see it now?

It wouldn't have been the end of the game if they hadn't taken those three points away from SMU. Bottom line the refs were terrible for both teams. Usually I'm in the camp of the refs having a bias against Miami but being there and seeing calls and no calls going both ways ....

The only way Mario is winning here is if he aquires 2001-level talent, hires aggressive, innovative coordinators and him and little Alex stay completely out of their way on game day and let them do their thing.

The wimpy, try-to-limit-mistakes “Scared-Raid” offense especially has got to go.

.001% believe this will ever happen though…

The refs cheat us but we should still be beating these teams. It’s more than the refs unfortunately.
I don’t think the officiating was nearly as bad as it’s being made. There was bad calls and no calls but SMU fans have a list as well. Most of our penalties were mental penalties like false starts. You can’t have that many errors on the road with bad coaching and expect to win. We earned this loss just like UL.

I had to apologize to my Uncle, because he told me before we hired Mario, that he's a meathead of a coach, I pleaded my case for Mario. But my Uncle was right Lane is the guy we shouldve hired, but Miami already has screwed it up

Mario's skillset is acquiring talent but is he doing an excellent job?

Yes, the roster is better than when he took over but how has this translated on the field?

How many portal acquisitions are on the two-deep depth chart in comparison to 3rd year players? I understand the portal is now the other talent pool for CFB but why aren't there more recruits than portal players? Are players not being developed, or are they too quickly forgotten and replaced by a transfer if not ready out of the gate.

As of today the QB (starter), WR, DT, and DB rooms are filled with transfers. Not exclusively, but seemingly more than you'd like from a HC whose primary trait being an elite recruiter.

Perhaps I am overreacting to a third consecutive poor showing, a second loss in three games, as double-digit favorite in Year 4. A season whose promise will far exceed results.

Perhaps this is CFB today.

He misses the field goal. I get you were there but you saw it once. We saw it 10 plus times. He missed

Very very rare for any team to have a "complete" roster in this CFB with transfer portal and NIL. Stacking 5 stars on the bench doesnt exist in the same manor anymore. Mario gets an "A" for talent acquisition. Not going to nitpick on him there. Everything else though? His OL who false statt 3-5 times a game? unreal...

Do you watch the games?
If Miami played like they were capable it would have been 45-10 despite refs

But we make it easy w 5-6 false starts and multiple holds each game

It should have been 21-24 to NOTHING at the half!!! Self inflected penalties not bull**** calls

Acc saves those for when we have already ****ed up and then they put nail inncoffin
It’s our fault that game was even remotely close

My boy D Money is going to get this thing right irregardless

Full faitH in year 5 bro, i Just re-upped my Canes Connection even more bro I dont care if my kids dont eat this month irregardless

He will finish outside the top 10 two consecutive years now in high school recruiting with probably a top 5 budget. When he got here the expectation was top 5. His biggest assets are his HS and College degrees.

I’m deflated here. I’m a mope and expected this deep down but it doesn’t make it any easier.
It does feel a bit different to me

Even if it wasn’t unexpected or a surprise I think what’s getting me is:

2022 it was “PATIENCE” while we got manhandled by MTSU. Ok…I mean that seems weird but ok ok

2023 incremental improvements and more “PATIENCE” talk. Ok ok…I mean seems weird still but technically correct

2024 the best offense we will ever see here and we got hit with “JUST GOTTA FIX THE DEFENSE”

Ok ok seems weird to have no defense in year 3 but ok…

2025 was what all the patience was supposed to bear fruit. Offense would come back down but defense would balance that out

Ok and we still aren’t gonna make the Playoff or ACCCG so what exactly is the missing piece? Dawson? Is he the scapegoat? The refs?

What MEANINGFUL change is possibly left to get us over this pathetic hump?

A real HC. Mario has proven he isn’t that guy. I had strong suspicions after year 1 and those just continued to get compounded even though he kept increasing the talent level, albeit never at an elite level.

Now that we are in year 4, people will be finally able to be honest with themselves what happened those 4 years and how the fanbase continual lowered the bar just to be able to tell themselves some comfortable lies.

Right. And he’s borderline un-fire able (my biggest fear when he was hired)

And then we gotta turn around and prove we can make a good hire after a run of guys like Shannon, Golden, Manny, Mario etc

Shrug

Hence my pain statement, I have zero confidence we can get it done. Everytime we do hire someone, we barely have a search. Outside of Golden the other 3 hires we made were internal or program related. From the outside looking in that looks lazy af.

Now I thought Mario could elevate this program to an acceptable level. I never saw him winning it all but maybe? I went it 22 under the guise that a competent coach takes this Miami team at that time to 9 wins or more. We hit the portal to help out a defense that was weak and we proceeded to go 5-7.

All the alarms went off at that point and they continued to go off in 23 and 24. I was so hopeful this year was different because the portal talent we got was very good, although myself and others tried telling people on here that Beck wasn’t who they he was. Still he was serviceable and had experience.

Here we are and if nothing else what has been proven is that we can accumulate talent if the powers that be commit financially, we just need someone to take care of business during the season.

Calling that TO on 4th down was so stupid. So was that deep pass to Marion on 3rd down.
I’ve been re thinking this. 4th down TO still stupid SMU was scrambling. The deep pass to Marion they actually got the PI call that they were looking for but refs picked it up. Would’ve been nullified by holding but they got what they wanted .
