Do We Really Need Another Portal QB in ’26?

And let’s be honest — a big-time QB from the portal isn’t coming cheap. The NIL price tag for one of those guys could easily go toward stacking up WRs who can separate or adding more depth on the defensive line, where we need consistent pressure and playmakers.

You can have a Heisman-level QB ( Not Beck) but if he’s throwing to 1 excellent WR and average receivers or getting hit every other play, it doesn’t matter. Build the trenches, get some dogs at receiver, and let one of our own QBs lead.

At some point, you’ve gotta trust your own talent instead of always looking for a quick fix.

You should always take the best available player if you have the opportunity. If you have an opportunity to get an elite QB, I think it is foolish not to.

I think this should be the case for every position. If a player is elite and available, grab him.

Toney was assaulted on the play, should have been PI but yes very poor decision with a bunch of L'Ville guys in the area.

OSU also looked at the portal they just decided the price tag was too high for some QBs (to be fair they felt the same about Cam)

So absolutely everyone worth a **** is at least looking at the portal every year and they should be

I have NO issue with another portal QB. I do have issue with how the offense is ran. I think the OC we have is more than capable if he's left to truly run the offense. Mario and Mirabal have to get out of the offense playcalling and the offensive scheme(s).

Julian Sayin was a stud QB out of high school and the reports I read was that he looked very good as a freshman in their practices. So, OSU had no need to go into the portal. Good for them. The aversion to consistent portal QBs is short-sighted thinking.

Even if it’s for a backup imo

It’s difficult right now to build any sort of depth chart with quarterbacks and if you do you only have one year of it most likely

That’s all positions though really
 
I can see Mario dropping the ultimate bag on Sellers.

What better way to add an extra blocker to the scrum if the qb isn't just handing it off? Mario's favorite play will be QB Blast, up the A gap.

SJ at Hback. Double rb set, one on each side of Sellers. Two tight ends. 11 ppl between the hashes but now that the qb is the runner we got an extra blocker.

I could 100% picture a lightbulb going off in his head. Him shouting to his staff, "I FIGURED IT OUT!". Dawson asks, what?

Mario says, "MORE BLOCKERS" as he pounds his fist.

With the way our QB recruiting has been the last 3 years, Miami is going to need a QB from the portal for the next 3 years.

Get a OC who can evaluate and develop QB’s. Dawson sucks *** in this department.
