Do Mirabal/Mario

This is Dawson's third year here. He's an older, established guy that has been around and can easily find a job elsewhere. The idea that Mario/Mirabal are stepping on his toes to the degree suggested on this board as it relates to the run game strains credulity. Otherwise, he'd be gone. Because no one wants someone looking over their shoulder the way folks on this board are suggesting.
people on here for some reason love to try and blame mario for everything. The disagreed with his hire, so they fight it all the way. The make up **** like "Mario calls the runs plays" - something that has no bearing in fact or evidence to support it, because then they can blame him when it doesnt work. They use terms like "fake tough guy" to make it seem like his whole persona is fake. He played like he talks, he coaches like he talks, and his built a much more tough/physical team than we have seen since like 2004. The culture has completely changed, but no, its has to be "fake" tough guy.

The anti-mario brigade forgets that before mario, we were not in playoff talks, not ranked highly, not recruiting in the top 10, and not taken serious on a national level. They rather see him fail so they can be right, than see him suceed and the team win. Its wild.

Mario was given Soros level bank... and here we are.

You're right, Mario doesn't call the run plays. Mirabal does

I don’t think mirabal is calling the plays per se. My take is that he’s got plays to run and those are set by the OL corch and by proxy the HC.
So Mirabal says, "here's duo and dive, have fun."

I'd say that's effectively calling the plays, even though he literally isn't calling the plays.

My brother, this is oversimplified. Dawson has essentially said as much. It all goes together - splits, formations, insistence on staying on schedule. It's not just "they're making me run these run plays or make these calls."
Well, I can certainly understand if there is a certain philosophy that Mario and Mirabal have that is "strongly encouraged." But my question is, is something like "You are not allowed to run outside the tackles" (lol) something that a 40-something year old OC would put up with? Because IMO, if that was the case, I think more often than not those folks bolt for independence.

I can’t imagine it gets *that* far. But, if you add it all up, it certainly leans toward a tighter approach than what Dawson had previously communicated and shown. I think it’s bad math.

Since we still have people who can’t wrap their head around the Mirabal situation:

Ding, Ding, Ding, @jmiller

These boys @hoops156 @Cane4L tried to tell you.

Duo blocking or die.

I will say this to everyone and maybe it makes folks feel better.

I met Mario when he was the OL coach the day of the UM-FIU brawl. It's a cool story and one I'm happy to share that is much longer but I'll keep it short for now. I forget exactly what I asked him--it was something about OL or running game--and the man recited for me in order the yards gained on each run play the game prior. Like, he literally went "6,19,0,1,2,4" . . . you get the picture.

If he is as maniacal as I thought he was then to be able to recite that off the top of his head, I imagine he's one ****ed off dude looking at that chart today. So I'm crossing my fingers that the running game improves the next few weeks.

So he definitely controls what Dawson calls is what you’re saying.

He can be ****ed off all he wants but it hasn’t been working.

Likely not to change his hard headed ways either.

I stand co

Does anyone have the actual comments? A tweet by an unknown dude/s on twitter summarizing someone else that may or may not have been taken out of context isn't evidence.

Brother, I’m just as maniacal about going raw, but here I am again, taking probiotics after a 2 week regimen to get back right. I’ll never learn. Pull out game elite tho

Being maniacal about something only makes sense IF he is someone who goes into the lab to try new ideas.
But if your obsessed with something and your only answer is “lets run WR in motion into the tight formation” and “we need to strike harder on the line”, welp, that’s not going to do a whole lot.

I’ve noticed we are insistent on these tight sets and we throw things at that (wr motion into lead blocker, extra lineman), but we rarely change up the line assigments or go with other run concepts.

the reason I created this thread, the tough guy run scheme is mirabal

i saw dawson geting a lot of the heat
I’ve been saying the same thing. My spidey senses tell me AM is also a protected name on these boards.
Last year, EVERYONE was calling out Guidry (not just the board).
It feels pretty obvious to me the biggest culprit right now is Mirabel. The run game changes the dynamics on EVERYTHING.

Will Mirabel ever face scrutiny?

The fact that Dawson has now said a few things about this leads me to believe this will likely be his last year here, even if its on the subconsious level only right now. Cam covered up alot last year and now Dawson may be seeing law of diminishing returns if the run game is out of his hands for the most part.
