In other words.... it's not one or the other. We'll go after the local studs, but we'll have plenty of options nationwide.

Exactly. There can be a mix of national recruiting and SFL recruiting. You don’t let the best players leave home. Nonsense talking about previous coaches focusing too much on SFL kids. We couldn’t sign SFL kids nor national kids when we were broke and trotting out a guy with a lisp to sell for us.

Keep the best of the best home. Raid other elite areas nationally. Make in-roads at the best locations (hello, Texas?). **** like rabbits.

I might be full of **** but if Smith were a recruit this year I think we land him

Everything changed once Cam Ward hit the field

He’s gonna go down as one of the most important recruits to ever come to Miami (he already is I should say)

The way he leveraged social media, made Miami cool again, and dominated on the field shifted the landscape

And went from a day 2 pick to top overall. Cam elevated an already high ceiling.

His criticism of the program set things in motion but Cam was proof of concept. This is what the offense and ideal can look like with an elite qb. We don’t get Beck without Cam, no Mensah. Trajectory of the program remains stagnant
 
I was watching Pete’s interview with AJ Randle. He discussed his track background. I was surprised when he said he plans on running track in college so I looked his times up. He’s actually the 2nd rated 300m hurdler in North Carolina. That’s absolutely insane for his size.

I’m not sure Mendel’s and Jeremiah’s fair cause in one scenario was about scheme fit. The other was about qb uncertainty.

Without Cam Ward we wouldn’t be where we’re at today & we wouldn’t be looked at the same by recruits. He made Miami “Da ****” again & he’s the most important player to wear a Hurricanes Uniform since ST26

This generation's Jim Kelly. May not have won the championship, but Jim and Cam were critical to laying the foundation (in two completely different eras of college football each with it's own nuance) for an emerging national program.

Do you get royalties for waving the Mendoza flag all the time? I don’t get it.
Yes he had an all time great season last year. Once. We could’ve recruited him out of high school, but passed. Then we passed again when he left Cal. Why? He wasn’t that good.

Somehow he drank some Magic QB kool aid at IU and won a Heisman and a natty. Massive accomplishments. Thing is, I don’t get the revisionist history that we should’ve recruited him.

There was also 10+ elite kids in south Florida then almost every year before it started turning into San Francisco east
 
Love it. Recruit nationally and local, but never bite the hands that feed you.

But its great to know the brand might be stronger than ever since it's a deep yearning for the return of UM football ppl just need to see the product and production on the field.

Coach Cristobal can give ya professionalism and has his ear to the street.Def going to be a tough time to neg recruit us. Having guys like Jalen hurts wanting to play for UM only to be neg recruited because of our on field production is a thing of the past.

A big reason why previous staffs had to focus on local talent so much was recruiting budget. Recruiting out of state kids costs a lot more than recruiting kids that are a short drive away.
