DJ Scaife - 40 career starts and gets no respect

Pretty crazy he committed to the canes all the way back on July 9 2016.

His only other P5 offers per 247 were NC State and Syracuse.

Two time all ACC with over 40 starts who had 4 Oline coaches while at Miami. Not too shabby
Kinda surprised those were is only P5 offers

People don’t like him because he got beat by a potential top 5 pick.
And because every game he gets a false start. And because every other game he gets steam rolled at least once into the QB. Other than that hes pretty much a stud.

When we have a glaring hole at RT in 2023, at least one poster will say they miss DJ Scaife.
At least one porster said the offense wasnt Gattis's fault. You aren't proving what you think.

Is his eligibility up finally? Nothing against the guy but some of these players are epitome of this era and its time for new blood.. Good luck on your future endeavors

Honorable mention is not a real award, you know this right?

DJ proved it for me. Plenty of folks thought there was no way he'd start, let alone start every game and make honorable mention. He isn't Joaquin Gonzalez or Vernon Carey but he was dependable and durable unlike so many fan faves.

He was a warm body.

In the history of NCAA football you'd be hard pressed to find an OL with as many starts as this group of Canes that has performed so badly. I wonder how you can choose an OL for post season honors from a line that got man-handled by more than a few very lessor, underdog opponents.

Two years ago they were starting that nonsense of all the starts the Cane's OL had as a group. But, their ratings in NFL rating systems for OLs had them in the bottom 15% in the nation. The red flag for OL is guys being moved around to try and find them a position where they aren't horrible - that went on for years.

We go against Clemson that year, with all those starts and Clemson OL has a couple young pups (and yes they had TL). Miami 9 first downs and 210 yards; Clemson 34 first downs and 550 yards. The OL with the lack of confidence and that looked confused was on our side.

Mirabal spoke between the lines all season long saying things like: These are the guys we have to play with, we can't wait for others - so, these are OUR guys. Or, You'd think 300b guys would have confidence, but some of these guys just don't. But he also said they wouldn't be a weakness. I was really trusting him on that one.

Mr Dependable. A person simply cannot make a case that he wasn’t available every Saturday and did not give his all. No one makes the case that DJ Scaife is all world or a dynamic force. But who has been All World consistently during his time as a Cane?

What’s wrong with being loyal and appreciative. There’s hundreds of Canes that didn’t do or contribute 5% of what Scaife has. There’s alot of dudes to **** on…why Scaife. After the work and loyalty he has put in, it’s no doubt that he’d be a fan favorite and respected if he looked different.

Dude is a Cane through and through. That should be enough and mean something. He definitely has not been a problem or the problem on our Oline.

If he looked different? Lol..like all the respect Corey Gaynor got when everyone celebrated his transfer? (could've finished at Miami and NOT been celebrated). SERIOUSLY hope you're not insinuating race is a factor. The OL has been poor, and that's why people aren't applauding DJ's career, though you make valid points about effort & loyalty.

If you don't have something nice (or at least contributive)...

Some of you are just hateful, like these kids spited you personally or something.

Wasn’t a huge scaife fan but he had to play out of position his entire career. Dudes a center and had to play tackle and guard because our ol recruiting was cheeks.

Curious, did you feel that way about Malik Rosier?
