DJ Ivey impressing

I'm glad he's doing well but he was bad here is the actual correct response.
breaking your ego is healthy my man and a sign of true confidence

say it with me......I was wrong.......you'll be ok, i promise

or are we to believe you were right and the NFL scouts that decided to draft him were wrong and it's a mirage that he's an NFL CB

Thanks for making me twitch this morning. My goodness was that one of their worst games collectively. As someone else said, goes to show how coaching can fail.
I think it was Steve Kim on one of the recent CIS podcasts that made mention of that game being a watershed moment for the rebuilding of the program under Mario.

We can poke fun at how much culture gets thrown around and at times might border on cliche, but that game and season clearly show how **** poor the culture of the program was that Mario inherited from Manny Diaz. That conversation on the podcast with Steve Kim was interesting, particularly whether or not Mario regrets not going full ***** in flushing out the program that before the start of that first season (definitely a conversation I would have liked D$ and Steve Kim to delve deeper into)

lol that's crazy talk.. every week he was here and played it was a new set of 'wtf is DJ doing??' Dude was personally responsible for more low lights than anyone on the team other than the corches.

Ivey had a confidence issue at UM. He genuinely played poorly at times and overall was unreliable. No one ever doubted his athletic abilities.
again brilliant weaseling your way out of admitting you may have been wrong. This one is a classic. It was his athletic ability which was the reason he was drafted and not his performance.

yeah and when the NFL saw the tape they drafted him since we all know the NFKL drafts you when you are the one player on the team causing 'wtf is DJ doing'

again you guys are brilliant at explaining away all the reasons you were really right

maybe, just maybe you were wrong. it's ok. if you need to seek a comfort animal or fidget spinner when you say it to help get thru it

perfect example of how our ego helps prevent us from ever being wrong the correct response here is, DJ Ivey was better than I recall, perhaps I confused our teams horrific performance with his play
Wrong. Physically he was ready but he played slow & with no confidence. Some of that could be due to system or feeling local pressure to live up to the hype.. but he was sub-par here. Glad they asked him to stay for breakfast instead of it being just a cup of coffee.

I mean he has basically proven you wrong. it's ok to admit it. CIS scouting department causes group think moments and too many get swept into it. The NFL doesn't give a crap about what the CIS scouting department says, they look at the tape

I don’t understand, and I don’t think I ever will, the DJ Ivey hate on this board.

Dude is carving a nice career for himself and will more than likely see a second contract. People should be happy for him but it seems most aren’t. Dude is making it and people on here are sitting on the couch hating

CB is like QB. It’s a confidence position and it was clear his was sapped at Miami. To many miserable mofos on here

My hypothesis is folks confuse the teams frustrating performances with a single player and then just pile on. It's kind of like displacement theory. Same as Georgia fans blaming Carson because it's safer to admit it's the QB's fault than just say the team is falling apart. Football is a team sport. I will admit there were times where he didn't play well, but that's just reality. He's not Deon.

Genetics got him drafted. Tape got him drafted last part of the 7th. He’s exactly what we thought he would be in the NFL. Special team’s guy. Less with more. Just not a very good football player. Ask Restrepo what the NFL thinks about tape vs talent.

Not sure why you’re digging in here. He was bad at times at Miami. That shouldn’t be disputable. It’s not hating on Ivey to be honest about his college performance. He’s a former Cane and I genuinely hope the best for him.

As far as the NFL, if you’ve followed it at all over the years, you would agree that many GMs target guys based on traits as much as performance.

Bravo! You should be the CIS scouting department president. He's exactly what I thought he was, which was garbage at UM but ONLY got drafted in the 7th round. Cause we all know the NFL drafts garbage players.

This is some 1st class xplaining

He was solid his first year and senior years but was bad in between. Very bad at times in those years. Nothing wrong with pointing that out. It wasnt all on him. Our coaching was trash. Glad he got his confidence back his senior year and has parlayed that into a nice career thus far in the league. The more Canes doing well in the league is better for us.

Repeat after me. DJ was better than I thought/recall. It is ok. You will survive it.

Kevin Steele was a failure on top of the culture issues. Maybe he has some level of success with a better culture but I doubt he leads this defensive team to the same results as heatherman. Thus, it is about a mix of culture, talent, and X/o coaching. Then you have the things that have to be right the other 6 days of the week plus offseason.
